Unconvincing, superficial characters and story line. Great actors but something is missing. First half of movie was slow and boring, didn't get much better

It looked intriguing but it was too slow and dull and I just couldn't get into it and didn't manage to finish the film.

Dillinger story told in a cold and detached way

This movie is way better than the low numbers it received from this site. I've seen it several times and I never get tired of it.

I’m not sure why this movie has a lower rating and people are hating on it. It was a great flick! Ignore the movie “buffs” and watch this!

Plenty gunshots plus dark night time shots, rainsoak street shots, more machine-gun shots. Nothing to recommend here. (Long, too.)

One of Michael Mann's more middling efforts, Public Enemies is a decent film with a few great performances, but a rote script and slow plotting keep this gangster thriller from being great.

"Work smart and not hard" that's these scammers' slogan. They lure you with promises of luxury and lifetime riches without you doing anything besides investing in their investment schemes, and if you ever fall prey, they will siphon you of every penny dry. Found the movie disjointed, with ragged jumps between scenes and too many undeveloped characters and story lines. A huge missed opportunity as well developing the economic backdrop of the Great Depression that had many ordinary folks seeing Dillinger as a hero. Could have used fewer long and pointless gun battles and more conversation. Failed Epic.

I think that enough time has passed for us to recognize that Mann's use of digital here wasn't the huge mistake everyone (including myself) thought it was back in 2009, but rather a highly influential decision that predicted how most of us would consume imagery. On top of that, the film features Mann's typically rich use of archetypal cop and criminal characters. I think Depp was born to play Dillinger.
