It's an entertaining movie. A good Broken Lizard tale, relatable to the classic Club Dread.

I’ll try anything Broken Lizard puts out there, even if Super Troopers 2 was so bad I can’t remember a single moment from the movie, and even if the troupe hasn’t made anything notable since the 2000s (FTR, I have not seen their sitcom, Tacoma FD). All of that being said, I love these guys and Quasi, although having really nothing to do at all with Hugo’s famous deformed creation, is peppered with enough laughs it’s worth the stream (Hulu). Quasimodo (Steve Lemme), the Hunchback of Notre Dame (although they don’t even use stock footage of Paris or the famed cathedral, for some reason…), spends his days toiling away in a torture chamber, where he is credited with creating the infamous “rack”. After a gesture of good-will from his friend (or simply a roommate, depending on who and when you ask), Duchamp (Kevin Heffernan), “Quasi” finds himself in the middle of a Venn diagram concerning love and murder with the King of France (Jay Chandrasekar), the Queen of France (Adrienne Palicki), and the Pope (Paul Soter). It’s dumb-funny with a pretty good gag concerning Michel’s (Erik Stolhanske) height. Given the frequent torture-chamber settings and the troupe’s label for “gross-out humor,” I was expecting some grosser moments, but outside of one notable scene concerning Duchamp’s scrotum, the violence is pretty tame and likely speaks more to the budget than the desires of the creators. In fact, the whole movie felt pretty low budget compared to Beerfest and even The Slammin’ Salmon. I was going to say that I was surprised Brian Cox did the brief narrations, but then I remembered he is actually in Super Troopers. Would I’ve wanted to see the incredible, theater-trained actor playing either The King of France or the Pope in a Broken Lizard movie? Yes, but, perhaps for culture’s sake, we’re just not ready for that.

I personally really enjoyed this! It made me laugh so many times, plenty of fun humour and writing. It was really a great take on the hunchback of Notre dame story. They clearly put a lot of work into the set design and his hump actually looked realistic so pretty great makeup effects. Loved the multiple roles played by the same actors, it was probably even more fun to be a part of that film but I seriously loved it!

I'm sorry, I wanted to give it a chance because I like so much of their other work. But this was awful. I creativity, no clever humor, just bad in about any way a movie could be.

I enjoyed it! Broken Lizard rocks.
It felt like an extended episode of Tacoma FD in a dream sequence, more than a movie, if that makes sense. Not complaining though, because I love the show,

I usually like Broken Lizard's movies, but this one missed the mark. Too many of the jokes fell flat.

Maybe not Super Troopers level but still funny and a great watch.
