In the film in the film Tom Cruise plays a self-absorbed car salesman. Who owes money to just about everybody. He's on his way to Palm Springs with his girlfriend. When he finds out that his father passed away. After the reading of the will he gets next to nothing. This puts him into a frenzy. As the movie progresses he finds out that he has a brother. This movie is heartfelt & heartwarming. Dustin Hoffman playing Raymond it's one of the best performances of his career. Tom Cruise as Charlie Babbitt plays the part perfectly.

There are few movies that are so important they define a generation. This is one of them. A true coming-of-age tale that many can relate to in one way or another, and the more we learn about mental illness the more important films like this are that show just how multi-faceted it can be.

A comedy that brings you to tears when the credits role. A breathtaking and moving film with such fantastic acting from both lead roles, with Tom Cruise showcasing that he can be more than a blockbuster protagonist who runs and jumps. It is a lost gem, and I hope it gains more attention as years go on.

Great actors with great acting. The movie story though is quite tacky in parts - never in this day and age (nor country) would money be held by a trust nor trustee, and would go straight to the rightfully named (written) will beneficiary [in that story, that being Raymond].
