Over a decade later and this is still one of the franchise’s most fun installments even if it is stupid at times Milla Jovovich is back again as Project Alice with director Paul W.S. Anderson Taking place immediately after the previous entity Alice and her survivor friends are separated once more thanks to Umbrella unleashing their devastation Jill Valentine from part 2 was captured and brainwashed and she now leads the team of soldiers to unlock Alice’s potential Alice wakes up in an underground facility in Russia beneath the ice with help from Ada Wong and Luther among others in a strike team The Red Queen activates her deadly bio weapons to stall them but of course Alice isn’t going down without a fight The movie is filled with so many cool action sequences; They take advantage of the 3D digital filmmaking this time along with bigger explosions making it feel like an actual video game I do love the fun set pieces with the Lickers, the Axe Man, Nazi zombies, and the new characters Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong, and Barry Burton along with bringing back familiar faces like Colin Salmon, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sienna Guillory even if they’re just clones We also see Alice develop a maternal bond this time with a little girl making her more than just someone who shoots things up The sound mixing is excellent too with Tomandandy returning to do the score It’s definitely straightforward escapism and the final fight is very intense This paved the way for the final chapter and showed since 2002 this series keeps upping the ante Again I don’t hate these movies even if they do tend to stray away from the source material on a couple occasions

5 films in you should already know if you're going to enjoy this or not. By this point its well and truly the Milla show. Actually my favourite from the franchise. What we have is a Resi greatest hits with a lot of returning faces a sprinkling of actual characters from the games and a bunch of kinetic set pieces. Once again its an action packed sci-fi zombie movie that requires you to leave critical thinking at the door. My biggest complaint is that it sets up an epic final movie that is never paid off. It is what it is and far superior to the latest attempts to reboot the franchise.

Alice is going through an alternate world. When she finally snaps out of it, she finds herself trapped in and underworld city.

Overall, while the fifth instalment looks and sounds amazing, the film delivers a lazy storyline that has no real benefit to the viewers. The film also ignores some of the biggest questions fans have, which I found highly annoying and disappointing. Sure, there are still some fun action sequences with Alice taking on many zombies in a high tech facility, but for me, this is the first film within the franchise that takes a serious nose dive down, putting the franchise on life support.

Nothing new in the plot except a little girl to rescue. As usual, good special effects.
