Often exciting, Rock Dog may have dull animation, but its characters and story are earnest and thoughtful enough to stand out from other animated classics.

I gave Rock Dog a chance to watch this movie for a bit of curiosity and honestly the movie is just okay. Rock Dog is about a movie named Bodi Tibetan Mastiff alongside his father Khanpa who lives in a place called Snow Mountain where all sheep live to make wool. Bodi wanted to be a musician rather than a guard. The movie didn't really bring up the music. It just felt a bit plain and the story is just only good and not really the best. And the Mafia Wolf Linux didn't have any reason why they won't eat the sheep. It felt like it was an organization that was gathered by cannibals. I really like their main song Glorious felt soothing and the best way to travel. However, despite this movie is all about trying to "find your flame" it did not mix music and martial arts combined (Unless it's the Def Jam games) It's not a perfect movie but still, it's good to watch something new.

Can we just talk about the amazing character design of the main dog (also cat and fox and wolf and sheep, so I guess everyone)? Also, I always love myself some goofily bad villains. Reminds me a lot of Zootopia and Sing.

Rock Dog, while entertaining in it's own right, was a pretty semi-decent offering, with semi-decent characters, semi-decent fantasy elements, and a semi-decent plot.

It was a well written movie and was also funny and the music is great . Truly inspiring to be reminded of the power of music and how it can change your life. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™

A decent, entertaining music-themed comedy that doesn't break any new ground and is guilty of taking some of its cues from the Kung Fu Panda franchise (the titles even sound similar) but has decent animation (yes, the 2D opening segment looks better than the actual movie but the 3D animation has its moments; the lighting's a bit off in some scenes but it doesn't look too bad...but then again, it was made on a slightly higher budget than the gorgeous-looking The Book of Life, which also had the same animation studio, so maybe the criticisms of Rock Dog not being visually on par with Pixar are more understandable), good voice acting, enjoyable music and a couple of jokes I actually laughed at. While the part-underdog, part-fish-out-of-water story hurt Rock Dog's chances at standing out amongst other animated movies, I do think this Chinese-American coproduction has enough effort put into it to be far from a misfire...and whose commercial failure felt undeserved.
