This movie was as cool as Heavy Metal, the company should have pushed the film more, given it better publicity than they did.

What can I say other than It was a fantastic and unique experience. Now I'm not going to sit there and say it's awful like other people that shall not be named writing these reviews cause it's not what you like. Well, guess what different strokes for different folks just because you don't like it doesn't mean it was a bad movie. Reviews hurt views and I'm going to say in my opinion It was great the songs were good the characters were memorable sometimes it was hard to hear the voice acting over the music but for the time the animation was stellar so I didn't really care that much about the small flaws. For anyone interested in old Animation this is a must watch Dont listen to the negative people on here you do you and watch what you want half of the negative views are just trolls that either doesn't like animation doesn't like music doesn't like anything old doesn't like anything new or it's not their bag which is wrong cause they could be steering away people that may like it It's a big problem on here and it's been a glaring problem since rotten tomatoes had started It's good movie give it a watch if you don't like it you can join their legion of the hating undead.

A unique animated '80s flop, Rock and Rule is strange, noisy and even a bit trippy with inconsistent voice acting, unusual number of jump cuts (probably because I saw the official YouTube version which went for a "best of both worlds" approach with the Canadian cut containing elements from the American cut) and the main protagonist being a jerk for most of the movie. And I still think it worthy of the term "underrated" thanks to good animation, a fun uniquely-designed villain, jokes that I actually found legit funny and, as you'd expect from a movie with that title, awesome music especially during the climax. Long story short: this animated flop is nothing like all the other huge animated flops because this one's 2D animated rather than fully CGI, and also because it's actually decent. Not bad for a Canadian animation studio that's mostly known for cartoons for babies. I didn't fall in love with Rock and Rule as much as I hoped but if you're an animation enthusiast, I do think you should check it out. You'll probably find something to love.

Joya de la animación para adultos muy infravalorada paso muy desapercibida es una película totalmente nostálgica llena de todos los clitches de la época de manera hermosa y bizarra la animación retro te sumerge en el mundo y si eso no lo hace lo hará la fenomenal música.

The music does indeed rock and the animation does indeed rule, but like so many of the punk-influenced records from this era, there is more style than substance at play.

Tried to be "Heavy Metal." Failed.

this film is amazing for it's time. It's one of, if not THE, Best Nelvana films of all time (And that's saying something!) With a badass soundtrack more reminiscent of a Heavy Metal soundtrack, it kicks it's way into the eschelon's of underrated classics. 300 animators poored blood, sweat, and tears into this film to make it a visually stunnning masterpiece with then-state-of-the-art computer-generated graphics, inspiration taken from underground films of the era, and has an almost Ralph Bakshi meets Disney quality to it. At the time the film came out, they weren't sure who they were trying to gauge the work for, so it is somewhere square in the middle between a family film and a film for teens and young adults. It's a fun romp through a post-apocalyptic wonderland devoid of human life, but filled with the trappings of human society, from movie theaters to concert halls. Each character was designed to resemble, in some form, the voice-actors portraying the role, and each of the main cast got their own individual animators so that each character had their own style and flow, but it meshes up so well in the end product that you really can't tell where one animators work ends and another begins! This film is a brilliant, near-forgotten classic, and only because Nelvana dropped the ball on marketing, as it was only advertised in North Dakota and a handful of Canadian provinces on it's release. It has found a cult following and been given new life on Youtube and other media platforms since it's re-release, and subsequent fan-re-stitchings of the original scenes and voice casting.

This movie fucking sucks. It's unfinished. That's the only word I can use to describe this movie: unfinished. Which is really a shame, because the concept itself, and the skeletal remains of this movie show true potential. It really could have been something spectacular, but falls woefully short. I read online the budget for it was $8 million. Where did all the money go? Certainly not in the animation and sound design. If i had to guess, most of the money probably went to hiring the big-name musical talent that appears in this movie. And it really does pay off, the movie has a great soundtrack. Save for one song: My Name is Mok. Christ that song is terrible, it honestly makes me cringe. But so many parts of this movie just feel... off. In fact, the whole thing feels off. It just gives off the vibe that the budget ran dry before they could actually finish it. Such a shame, cause as I said before, there was some real potential here to make something absolutely stellar. Some of the voice acting is absolutely terrible and grating as well. Honestly, if you just take this movie as an unfinished project, you might enjoy it. MIGHT. Because honestly, the writing isn't even that good either. The only parts I actually enjoyed was the music and some emotional scenes that were done particularly well. Every other part I was either cringing or bored to tears. If you're expecting disney-level polish wiith good writing, steer clear of this one. Although I guess I could recommend it to the morbidly curious.

Fun, but it could have be "great". It feels like they ran out of money. Still worth a watch
