Rule Breakers

Despite its occasionally stale elements, the film succeeds movingly thanks to the inherent power of its narrative and the terrific performances by Boosher and the four young actresses as the team members.

The director Bill Guttentag and his cast get the can-do spirit at its core, as well as the societal constrictions that make such perseverance especially impressive, but it’s also a story that could have been told with more concision and subtlety.

There are many bloated, shallow moments, while the heavier, more significant scenes go by in the blink of an eye.

With strong performances, compelling storytelling, and beautiful cinematography, Rule Breakers is more than just a film about robotics. It's about the fight for the right to education and the hope that knowledge can illuminate even the darkest times.

Rule Breakers is exactly what it says on the tin, a satisfying and uplifting tale of struggle against the forces it seems like we should have left behind by now.

A formulaic feel-good underdog drama.

It takes courage and stamina to reach your goal, but it is worth it. What obstacles confronted the women of Afghanistan in achieving their goals is still going on. Progress is slow, but it is happening.

A film of cheap sentiment, broad platitudes, and little sense of tangible reality, sprinkled with baffling hints of rah-rah Americanism.
