Settlers
audience Reviews
, 37% Audience Score- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsHad the pleasure of working security for one of the lead actresses of the movie and boy did they work hard to get out what is on screen, in heat of 52°C at times , scorpions and other creepy crawleys .. well made with an honest view of what it "could be like" taking into account human nature.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWhen faced with the option, rent or buy, I chose rent, because the ratings were low. What I found was a riveting and suspenseful story that unfolded in a way that made you feel uncomfortable. You're faced with the vulnerability of a family with a small child in a fight for survival and it's thrilling. I don't think the ratings are accurate, I should have bought this, not rented. I am here to pick the score up a little bit. Good acting, great pacing and an immersive start that worked well and set the fictional world up in a way that feels believable before they went ahead and started the mayhem. This movie wouldn't be as good without the start, the start was what made this movie work. However there was a lot more than that they got right. Thoroughly enjoyable.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsPleasantly surprised by this one, with solid acting and good focus, Settlers has good emotional range and depth in a unique setting with a small cast that still manages to create good tension and suspense as it tells the story of Remy, her parents... and Jerry.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsI don't watch movies just to see hours of depression, and suffering, with absolutely no point to it. I think whoever wrote this might require psychological help. I watched to the bitter end, thinking there must be some point to it. Nope. No point whatsoever. I know it sounds Cliche, but I truly would have enjoyed polishing my shoes for an hour and 45 minutes, more than than. At least the time spent would have had a motecum of value.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThere's "slow burn" and then there's "can this be over now?" This movie is the latter. Interesting premise. It would probably make a great short story. (Like... five pages?) But as a feature film? No.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsTypical apocalypse and survival movie where no one works together and all wants to kill each other with no means of success in the end. Just constant fighting instead of helping each other survive. Also bowing to children instead of educating them in the reality of the situation you are in.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsusual process of culpabilization of Occidentals
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsAn old Plot, never beet told the way this movie delivered. Will leave you thinking days after you watched it.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsVery slow with no message and weak story. Besides, very sad.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsA bleak exploration of Stockholm syndrome, without the hope that accompanies Stockholm syndrome. It's like watching paint dry on Mars, but rapier.
