One of my favorite movies of all time, and up there as one of Fincher’s best. I jumped at the chance to see it on the big screen since I haven’t seen since it was initially released. It’s just as mesmerizing as I remembered.

30th anniversary, though not the Imax version. Remembered most of it, although I though the ending was set on a beach, but I realise now I mixed it up with Barton Fink. Holds up really well. All the bad and mediocre movies and video games that copied the aesthetic haven't hurt it; the real thing stands out for a reason. The major thing I noted more than the first time is how much this is thematically linked to Fight Club: Brad Pitt's character has to show how good a detective he is by asking for a transfer to the big city and then keeps blundering himself in the most macho way possible to the tragic ending. Morgan Freeman's character is also really proud of never having had to use his gun, while the one scene in which there is a SWAT theme, Fincher shows nothing but disdain for them. On a minor note, I also discovered Fincher already showed his love for a nice reel-to-reel recorder here, which of course would be a big thing in Mind Hunter.

Sommerset routinely addresses the annoyances that we all put up with. He asks people to be quiet, janitors to stop scraping on glass, silence.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX! Watch it and find out. It was a mouth drop of a moment.

Great time seeing this on the big screen, what’s in the box though?

Decided to check it out since so high on IMBD best list and it was so disappointing. To be fair, this may be one of best during that era but doesn’t best of all time mean it stands the test of time? I’m a bit of mystery/detective fan and watch Law & Order and True Detective religiously and even those shows are better. The acting is so bad especially from a young Brad Pitt. The only thing they have going for them is the dramatic ending but they didn’t even show the horrible thing at the end so how is this horrific and gruesome as some critics claimed?

One of my all time favorite movies. Just saw it in IMAX at AMC. Amazing.
