Shin Kamen Rider

Shin Kamen Rider is a Japanese superhero film directed by Hideaki Anno, following his 2016 release, Shin Godzilla. Although lacking in many areas, the film has a genuine charm to it, and that definitely elevates it in ranking. The film's pacing is incredibly fast, even with a runtime of 2 hours, yet it works, and matches the overall vibe. However, the story is underdeveloped—arguably the most boring aspect—and definitely should have been explored more. The fight scenes are interesting yet odd, and the editing almost feels like a YouTube fan film. Overall, I think it's unique and filled with genuine passion, but I'm not sure I could say it's for me.

Honestamente, me estaba encantando la película, pero la arruinaron al final (como casi todas las películas japonesas por alguna razón que no entiendo). El personaje de Kamen Rider 2 fue manejado muy mal, al igual que el villano. Hubieron algunas cosas que no tuvieron una conclusión (creo que hasta incluyendo el propio mensaje de la película), esto junto a mucho potencial desperdiciado, la última pelea fue terrible (no solo por la dirección de las actuaciones sino por el movimiento de la cámara y lógica en sí) y la escena de la muerte de Kamen Rider no tuvo ningun sentido. El villano le decía "en serio darías tu vida por otra persona?" PERO SI NO DIO LA VIDA POR NADIE, SE MURIERON LOS 2. Todo el final fue malo, mal manejado y perdió todo lo que hacía buenísima la película en el anterior 75% de esta. También Takeshi, Ruriko e INCLUSO K fueron desperdiciados. Yo hubiera hecho mucho más con ellos. Me deja bastante triste, sinceramente. Pero bueno, al menos es una película muy divertida, ingeniosa, que en el primer 75% de esta tiene muy buena filmografía o a veces hasta buenísima, muy buenos personajes, mensajes y escenas. Claro... en el primer 75%. Creo que le daría un 8, aunque pudo haberse llevado un 9 o fácilmente un 9,25.

This is got to be a best Japanese movie I ever watched!

This is a very old-school tribute to the Kamen Rider character or that is what I felt from watching this without actually knowing the history. The way the design of the suit and action scenes can be directly placed in the 70s and won't make a difference is immediately juxtaposed with the amount of bloody violence and the introspection about it that comes right after that. There are a lot of themes that are very familiar through Anno's previous works but it never felt anything more than surface level. For the most part, it felt like a straight-up superhero story that is low-budget. But the episodic entry of characters, the monologues about happiness etc feels like it needs more time to have any heft to it amongst this campy action. As someone who doesn't have any idea about the character, this felt like it would have worked a lot better as an anime series. A lot of it is directed like an anime with the kind of shots and dialogues used but as it is not an anime, it doesn't have the same power. Also, the action would have been cooler and the cool music would have suited more in anime form.

Never knowing the property and aleays finding the idea a big silly I never bothered. But thought id gibe the movie a chance and i was not disappointed. Alien motorcycle cyborgs and insects battle it out in ultraviolent glory reminicent of 80s anime and rangers esque. Brilliant!!

Lots of action and great story!

Wild and bloody. Shin Kamen Rider is one whacky and wild Japanese remake. It felt like a modern-day Power Rangers movie with blood and gore. Shin Kamen Rider was pretty fun for the most part though! The biggest SHOCKER of all in this was the violence and blood.

As Kamen Rider Fanboy almost 5 decades since My childhood this is one of the best story from Kamen Rider, I'm aleeady watch the old and original Kamen Rider 01 when I was a kid and the Kamen Rider first 10 years ago, in My opinion this one of the good one story BUT a little bit disturbing is the shaky cam when the fight especially the last battle fight 01 vs 00 besides shaky the fight become MMA Style not as Augmented style, I know they have a problem during filming incld Motor Chase scene in a tunnel Mr. Anno don't want CGI but the team wants a CGI so as audience We (I) feel that but overall as Kamen Rider Fanboy I still give 5/5 I give cewdit for Ruriko & WASP Aug both of them is pretty cool 👍🏻👍🏻

It's surprisingly great ! That's one example why Japanese action movies are distinct!
