It was a nice faith-based movie and touching story which included behind the scenes of the Mormon Tablernacle choir that was great, but, I felt it was slow paced overall

Heartwarming, inspiring and family friendly! This is an independently produced story-driven motion picture (not a documentary, religious production or concert video). The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is featured as a part of the story-line, and the plot follows a fictional character named Aubrey (Sarah Kent) auditioning for the Choir, all while navigating her many life roles as wife (to lovable husband actor Christopher Scott) mother, friend, and strained relationship with her mother-in-law (stellar performance by veteran actress Anne Sward). This is the first film where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir organization has given full access to an independent film studio, and it was a great decision. It is interesting to see a little bit of behind-the-scenes inside the historic Tabernacle and visualizing membership in the venerable choir through weekly rehearsals, broadcasts and touring. During the film, scenes change between present-day to past. This device risks confusion for viewers, but adding a black and white beginning whenever going back in time and titles "Present Day," "3 Years ago", etc. helps the transitions. Different layers of Aubrey's story are slowly revealed through the years which weaves together some unexpected twists. The movie is at times humorous, tender, tragic and inspiring. My husband and I found this film to be very uplifting and positive. (I also recommend bringing some tissues). The music of the Choir is beautifully interwoven into the story - but viewers will be disappointed if expecting a full performance. The overall message here is all about the power of music to change lives for good, and to heal hearts. It is also interesting to note that all of the stories in the plot are based on actual true experiences submitted to the production company by members of the Choir. Selections chosen from those submissions became part of the character's story. I think that makes it even more inspiring to know that all of these things actually happened in real life at some point. This movie is very family friendly. There is nothing offensive. The PG rating is likely due to a very brief story dealing with the subject of suicide. It is refreshing and rare these days to find a movie with high standards, family values and a message of hope and love. Show your support of that genre, and be sure you don't miss Singing With Angels!
