Standard 'woman-in-peril' flick, depending upon the MC doing the most stupid thing at every turn to keep the plot going. Plus, the perpetrator is obvious from the moment they hit the screen. Banks is good, but not enough to recommend this.

Pretty entertaining movie with terrific acting by Elizabeth Banks, who holds the story together. The movie is filled with a lot of man hatred, of course, but that’s now standard fare for Hollywood. Yet, the story and acting are good enough to overcome deficiencies and make it a worthwhile watch.

Fairly engaging. Elizabeth Banks does a great job at holding the movie above water.

Skincare is a 2024 thriller starring Elizabeth Banks and Lewis Pullman—and honestly, I’m surprised I didn’t catch this in theaters when it dropped. The marketing for this movie was so underwhelming that I didn’t even realize these two were the leads until I hit play. That tells you how off the radar this film flew. But let me say this: I was pleasantly surprised. The movie is actually really good. The story is well-crafted, the script is strong, and the suspense keeps you locked in. It’s dialogue-heavy in parts, and some moments definitely could’ve been trimmed—especially that bizarre scene with Pullman dancing in his underwear and touching himself in the mirror (very weird and out of place). But those odd moments aside, the overall story works. Elizabeth Banks is the standout here. Her descent into paranoia as she tries to figure out who’s behind everything is gripping. She’s always been a solid actress, but this might be one of her most unhinged and raw performances to date. You believe her struggle. The director (Austin Peters) deserves credit for balancing the tension and keeping the pace tight. The back-and-forth nature of the plot never loses you, and it constantly makes you question what’s real and what’s not. Bottom line: Skincare might’ve slipped under your radar like it did mine, but it’s absolutely worth checking out. It’s creepy, intense, and surprisingly well-acted. Don’t let the lack of promotion fool you—this one’s a hidden gem.

Striking hard like a thrilling crime dream, but still failing in half the categories it would succed in in an Elisabith Banks film.

Such a well executed film and seems to be influenced by classic thrillers. I kept noticing how perfect the music was and that shows the importance of audio in film. I'm surprised by the low ratings. This is excellent and artistic.

"I love that this movie is like a tribute to 1980's L.A. Thriller which is really nice. Like the music is so perfect, the look of the film is great and colorful, and the lighting is so well done and spot on. 😊 The acting is not that bad and Elizabeth Banks was really good and fun in this too. My problems with this film is that the final act feels too small and it disappoints me with what happens to Hope (The Main Character) at the end of the film. 😥 I did see the critic consensus on the Rotten Tomatoes website (for this film.) that the script does need some fixes and improvements here and there (It actually used the word "rejuvenation".) and I honestly agree. I mean, the script was pretty odd and bad but the issue didn't annoy me so much but I still have to downgrade this movie for that and other issues that I had with this film. So, yeah. 🫤 If you didn't like the movie "MaXXXine" (2024) you might like this more despite the ratings on Letterboxd and on the Rotten Tomatoes website."- Written on Letterboxd
