Snake Eyes wastes an interesting premise, a talented cast trying their best to make the film salvageable and a group of martial artists whose cool moves I can make out every now and then with a weak story, the aspects that make the G.I. Joe character a fan-favourite being completely disregarded here, and an editor who seems to regard the action sequences with contempt since there does appear to be some cool stuff and okay choreography but by the looks of it, the use of shaky cam and quick cuts suggest that somebody misses when action movies were shot like the Bourne sequels. After all, why would we want to edit and choreograph our action similarly to that loser John Wick? Didn't Mad Max: Fury Road prove that the absence of jittery nonsense wasn't a fluke?! Should've just made a G.I. Joe 3 instead, Paramount!

Very boring movie for the most part, No way I could watch it in one sitting.

Did anyone involved in this movie read the actual comics? Totally ignores cannon! Creates a different origin which is more like a my little dumped orphan story. Nothing about Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow and Stalker serving together in the military. Does show how Storm Shadow is framed for the Hard Masters death at the hands of Zartan. Had so much potential to be the catalyst for something instead it is just terrible.

Stiff characters and a one note villain with average action this movie felt like it had no spirit and was basically trying to make the G.I. Joe universe into the MCU 3/10

An excellent adaptation of the source material with holding nothing back from the original story. This is as good as it could have been done. The writing is meaningful and clear. The acting is perfectly executed for the subject material. The secondary acting was outstanding by a dozen actors/actresses. It was done so well that it exceeded its source. Is this for everyone? No, but if you have an interest in GI Joe and an interest in Snake Eyes well then there is nothing better.

    an ok one time watch

This was so bad. So so bad. It's just action for the sheer action. There is no character arc, the MC just switches sides because the object of his revenge turns out to be the side he's working with and then somehow the snakes deem him worthy so the other characters trust him. This plays exactly like a video game and all the characters are as shallow and as baseless as a trope with no nuance. The salvageable parts are the fight sequences, when you get over the fact that they're not ridiculous enough to be mystical but just ridiculous enough to be video game like. If you want to waste your time on an action film this is it.

The original backstory was the most interesting thing about the Snake Eyes character. They changed the character completely, other than the name and suit, so now he's less interesting. Not a faithful adaptation of source material but that's nothing new. Not much to see here other than a 21st century kung fu action movie. While the actions scenes are fast paced and well done, the non-action scenes are very slow, dragging, uninteresting and when coupled with the fast paced action they make a choppy final product. Pun intended?

The story isn't great and the characters don't make much of an impression, but a great cast and lots of entertaining action make Snake Eyes a fun solo adventure for the fan-favorite hero.
