Solo A Star Wars Story was not that bad, but it was pretty fun to watch in theaters. So, if you have not seen it, it's worth a watch if you are a Star Wars fan.

This surprised me. But then, the film had a high-profile director change during production. Original Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (known for The LEGO Movie and 21 Jump Street) were the original directors. They were fired by Lucasfilm in June 2017, after several months of shooting. The reasons cited were "creative differences"—Lucasfilm reportedly felt their approach was too comedic and improvisational for Star Wars. Their replacement won me over. Ron Howard was brought in to complete the film. He reshot a significant portion (some reports say up to 70%–80%) of the film. Because of this, Howard received sole directing credit, while Lord & Miller were credited as executive producers. The director shake-up led to increased production costs (reportedly ballooning to over $275 million). But you know what? It paid off. There are enough edge of the seat scenes to keep you guessing and entertained. Not only that, the writing is good. Lawrence Kasdan and his son, Jonathan Kasdan were the writers. Lawrence Kasdan is a Star Wars veteran — he co-wrote: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Return of the Jedi (1983) The Force Awakens (2015) They were brought in partly because Lawrence Kasdan had long wanted to tell Han Solo’s origin story. When he agreed to help with The Force Awakens, he made it a condition that he could write Solo next. I'm glad he did. This movie has guts. They give it a much-needed - sometimes goofy - injection of fun.

Not bad but not the best

Much better than what people gave it credit for. Emilia Clarke is fantastic along with her cast members, hope to see her again in the future of Star Wars!

Enjoyed it. Loved the twists and turns of the plot and it was cool to see Han’s beginning

One of the worst movies in cinema history! WOW Talk about badly cast! The actor Alden who is trying his best to resemble Harrison Ford but he looks, and sounds nothing like FORD! It's beyond bad. Bad to the bone, and not in a cool way... There is seriously 1 good thing in this entire movie and it's ruined in this movie... That is Darth Maul. Sad they didn't just make a "Star Wars: Crimson Dawn" movie and not have SOLO in it! The only actor at the time worthy of playing the young Solo was Anthony Ingruber and Disney/Lucasfilms messed up the casting so bad, than hired the wrong directors and had them replaced with another wrong director. This was just bad from conception to final product... A Movie that should never be spoken about again and not part of STAR WARS Cannon.

While this movie is as entertaining as a Han Solo prequel should be, it ends up feeling bland and forgettable, and doesn't remotely live up to expectations
