very amateurish script with dialogues made up of catchphrases and repetitive metaphors that make the film seem like a cheap television special.

First of all: Thank you, Neil Bogart, as without him we might have never enjoyed the sounds of Donna Summer, Kiss and many others. Have you ever heard of him? Well, as he himself (the actor, of course) mentions at the end of the movie, probably nobody. But it was his relentless effort and insanity which have put some of the most iconic records on our turntables or onto tapes into our tape recorders. Thus said, this movie is an ode by his sons to their father (they wrote and produced it), and as one realizes during the movie he actually deserved this recognition, though it is obvious that the sons obviously had a very benign and proud view of their father. Thus, understandably the description and views are quite one-sided. Now to the movie itself: Whenever there is music, it is absolutely great, with mostly unforgettable songs of the fifties to seventies. But when there is drama, there is definitely way too much drama and at times it becomes dull, clearly showing the adoring attitudes of his sons' hands in the production. All in all it is an interesting movie to watch, but one that you can just as well enjoy at home, where, when the talking gets too extensive, you can skip forward. 5 1/2 of 10 points. P.S.: At the end, mixed with the titles, you can actually see footage of interviews and scenes of the real guy who actually seemed quite cool.

I thought that this movie was fantastic! I loved the history of Casablanca records, the struggle of the music business and all the artists they signed. The acting was incredible.

I Absolutely Loved This Movie! I Thought Jeremy Jordan Did A Wonderful job With This Role. His Singing is phenomenal, And you Can't Help Falling in Love With him. The Whole Movie Is Told So Well. Absolutely 5 Star Movie...

The movie was ok but they could have done better.

A missed opportunity. The real story should be interesting, but this movie Is almost completely devoid of flow, of rythm. Sections of the movie are painful to watch, they feel very artificial, phony and interesting. I mean huge sections. Casting of the artists is terrible. The main character is portrayed as a very fake, vain, egotistic and irritant person. If they were trying to paint this portrait on purpose, well they nailed it. When "Donna Summers" appeared, it was like..what??? She didnt resemble the real one at all. In less than 15 minutes, it was very clear that the movie was a flop. Nothing on the movie was well done, or approached on an original or fresh way. I consider the direction, edition and overall Quality of the movie to be dissapointing. This should not have been released like this.

This movie was so horrible. I was embarrassed for the people who made it. A total fail. Possibly made by people who had never seen a movie before. Just a brutal movie in every conceivable way. People spent money to make this steamer? Crazy

This showbiz movie was really good. Jeremy Jordan, Michelle Monaghan, Jay Pharoah, Lyndsy Fonseca, Dan Fogler, Peyton List, James Wolk, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. This true story about Neil Bogart and Casablanca Records was dramatic, inspirational, and entertaining. It's about doing what you love and doing it the right way to make sure everyone is happy and wins in the process. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see.

The story is fine. Jordan is good. Jay Pharoah is great. The actors were all ok EXCEPT those who served as Kiss and Donna Summer. Woeful. They neither looked or sounded their parts. The Donna Summer numbers almost gave me a migraine. She destroyed those wonderful songs. The Kiss songs were utterly awful. They basically wrecked an otherwise ok film.
