    Anyone but Chris Rock

Predictable ending very early. Some high school play level acting from most of the cast not named Chris Rock, Sam Jackson & Max Minghella and writing so weak it even made the legit actors look bad. I know projects are few & far between for actors, but Sam & Chris are way too good for this mess.

An interesting dip outside of traditional Saw waters, Spiral provides a predictable mystery with entertaining performances and gruesome demises.

Such a terrible saw spinoff. Very general movie, too modern and doesn't have sparkle.

Very disappointing! SAW movie series are masterpiece but this one was far from comparison, everything about it was very disappointing! If you're SAW fan I'd suggest not to waste your time on this one

The thing with this movie that you need to keep in mind is that while it is Saw IX, it wasn't intended as that. It was made as a spinoff and wasn't really part of the main series until Saw X made this the ninth instalment. So, it's more independent and has its own tone. And I love it for that. It's basically the Halloween III of Saw. If you forget that it's a Saw movie and see it as its own thing, it's amazing. Like, I very much enjoyed this one as its own thing and at the end, it began to feel a lot like a Saw movie. And, like Jigsaw, it feels like part of a new era where the original Jigsaw killings ended with Saw 3D, so now the people who were inspired by Kramer and his living apprentices can continue his legacy. That's basically what this part of the timeline is about: Jigsaw's legacy, with this being about a Jigsaw copycat killer, a concept I love and like the execution of. Also Chris Rock wasn't that bad in this. I quite liked his character. Also the traps, unlike Jigsaw, were great. They felt like classic Saw traps, but with twists that make William's style feel different to John Kramer's. My favourite trap in this movie was the Finger Trap. It's got a gruesome concept and feels the most escapable out of all the traps. It also holds a special place in my heart as it's one of the first Saw traps that I ever watched: I watched the clip after I watched Saw I, as I was curious what the traps in Spiral would be like. I was not disappointed. It's also extremely well shot and feels like a classic Saw trap, with a twist. Overall, it's a great spinoff that serves as a nice side story that I hope gets continued. Next up, Saw X! The final one as of now. And maybe for a while with how Saw XI's development is going.
