Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
audience Reviews
, 59% Audience Score- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars“Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” is a solid start to a larger story, with strong acting, an iconic musical score, and a thrilling final battle. While it introduces key themes and characters well, it often prioritizes political commentary on governmental corruption over the adventurous spirit fans expect from the Star Wars universe. The film has its flaws and may leave viewers with mixed feelings, but it remains a worthwhile watch, offering a moderately insightful message beneath its imperfections.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsGood story and great action sequences but I’d completely forgot how wooden some of the acting was. Liam Neeson is good, Jar jar binks is still annoying, Natalie Portman isn’t great but Ewan McGregor is still the biggest mis cast disappointment with his stiff wooden acting. It’s really terrible and still makes me cringe over 25 years later.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsMore fun than I remember. The environments and characters either look really good or hysterically bad. Jar Jar and Anakin are annoying but in an amusing sort of way. Watto, Nute Gunray, and Boss Nass are all comedy goldmines. It really is just one of those so bad, it's good movies; all of its blunders are either hilarious or endearing, and I had a great time rewatching it.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsThis movie was made for kids, not for Star Wars fans who’ve seen the other movies. And it’s got more politics than space battles.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsJarjar Binks was extremely annoying and didn't add much to the story. Darth Maul, Obi-Wan, and Qui-Gon Jinn fight was entertaining, and Palpatine seems true to episodes 4,5, and 6. Great acting by Palpatine and Obi-Wan carried but all around good movie. Solid 3.5/5
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThis is the only Star Wars prequel I like. It isn't nearly as good as the OT, but it's solid.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsLove this movie probably my favourite out of all of the star wars movies. Liam Neeson is great in it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsHot Take, This not a bad movie and I think it is better then episode 2 by a mile.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsGeorge Lucas’s return to his cinematic galaxy with commanding creativity aligns the general impression of a trilogy’s lesser beginning to make room for phenomenal growth from the icons’ planted anticipation to the visually dazzling upgrade on explorable canvas while stakes are performatively expressed at a decent level. Resultingly good to admit, the disturbance in the Force shows this being a flat disappointment and inferior on comparably weaker levels when it comes to the required storyline basically a misfit gathering against a political backdrop while the visuals inject unsuitably cartoonish frivolity, stemming from the alleged main focus on practicing digital opportunities over drafting a solid worthwhile story. - Rating: 4 out of 5 starsWhat a wonderful reminder of all the hope and promises was before us when the prequels were first released. Great to see this classic on the big screen again!
