Star Wars: The Force Awakens
audience Reviews
, 84% Audience Score- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsWhile I didn’t think there would be any way to top the original trilogy I was still interested to see how the galaxy develops in the new movie. Unfortunately, it was just a retread of A New Hope with nothing new to offer. Still not bad.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars“The Force Awakens” is less a triumphant return to a galaxy far, far away and more of a meticulously polished nostalgia machine. J.J. Abrams plays it painfully safe, delivering what amounts to a high-budget remake of A New Hope, beat for beat. There’s a desert orphan with mysterious Force powers, a droid carrying vital information, a planet-destroying weapon, and a masked villain with parent issues. Sound familiar? Yes, the film looks great. The effects are slick, the sound design is top-tier, and John Williams’ score still hits the right emotional notes. But under that shiny exterior is a hollow core. The new characters—Rey, Finn, and Poe—have potential, but they’re underserved by a script more concerned with evoking the past than building the future. Rey, in particular, feels more like a checklist of Jedi tropes than a fully realized character, with near-instant mastery of the Force and lightsaber combat that strains believability even in a space fantasy. The return of Han Solo offers some charm, but it mostly serves to remind us how much more engaging the original trilogy was. Kylo Ren could’ve been a fascinating villain, but his arc veers into teen-angst territory, undermining any real menace. The film wants emotional impact—especially in a certain tragic moment—but doesn’t earn it. In the end, The Force Awakens feels like fan fiction with a Disney-sized budget: reverent, flashy, and ultimately forgettable. It’s not the worst Star Wars film, but it’s definitely one of the safest—and for a franchise built on risk and imagination, that’s a letdown.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsWhy didn’t the other two movies (The Last Jedi & Rise of Skywalker) weren’t like this. This is what is Star Wars made for, while the story really didn’t appeal to be that interesting, it’s entertaining visuals, sound effects, score, and characters make the movie look just right
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsReally bad movie. Ruins the Star Wars story. Star was movies 7,8 and 9 are a joke.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis movie is a shitty regurgitation of the original star wars. It feels like it was written by an early version of AI. How it has such a high rating is flabbergasting.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsBest of the sequels by far. Not nearly as good as the standard set by George Lucas but still an enjoyable and authentic movie🙂.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsIt’s a great time and I feel like it’s really just underrated because the rest of the sequels make people think this one is bad
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsA poor copy of the original Star Wars (EP4 A New Hope). Literally the same story but missed out hugely on the original casts' reunion and has aged terribly after the hype back then. By far the worst Star Wars movie made.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsHonestly, I like this movie as a reborn of the saga. Although, the Han Solo's death was unnecessary. But did it really had to exist?
