Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
audience Reviews
, 86% Audience Score- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsThis would've been great if it came out in the 2000s. Nowadays Star Wars has to complete with all kinds of things and it's just bland.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsAll things considered, this wasn’t a very good Star Wars movie. In terms of directing, it was better than the first two installments of the prequel trilogy, but you can VERY clearly tell that the sequel trilogy’s story wasn’t predetermined, because the plot of this movie is extremely lazy. Personally, I liked episode 7’s twist with Luke cutting himself off from the force, but bringing back Palpatine just takes it too far. If they actually gave a good explanation as to how he returned, it would definitely be better. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great elements of this movie (especially Kyle Ren’s character arc), but all things considered, the cons out way the pros.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsWhile so many have disparaged this film, I'll try not to because it's full of tremendous heart and sentiment and hope. Like all of the modern Star Wars films, Rise of Skywalker is beautiful to look at and the sound mixing and score are dazzling. It's not a great film but it is entertaining and it leaves the Star Wars universe in a very optimistic place so it's hard to hate it for its flaws. (Of which there are many). It's sloppy and it's kinda lazy and unsatisfying but so are more than a few of the films in this beloved franchise. If it had to end, I am glad it reached the social and moral destination it arrived in.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsTrash movie. Trash actors. Trash story. Leave the series alone. Daisy sucks
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsAs someone who grew up watching the original Star Wars trilogy, it’s honestly heartbreaking to see how far the franchise has fallen under Disney. The Rise of Skywalker (Episode IX) is the final nail in the coffin of a trilogy that never understood what made Star Wars meaningful in the first place. Instead of a strong, coherent story, we got a movie that felt like it was written by committee rushed, chaotic, and desperate to please everyone and as a result, pleasing no one. The plot is bloated with meaningless twists, nostalgia bait, and character decisions that make no sense. Palpatine’s return was lazy fan service, Rey’s lineage was a retcon that undercut her earlier development, and characters like Finn and Poe were completely wasted. Worse, this movie actively disrespects the legacy of the original trilogy. Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia deserved better. Their arcs were either ignored, reversed, or used as emotional bait to prop up new characters who lacked depth and earned payoff. Disney’s Star Wars isn’t Star Wars. It’s a hollow imitation that swaps mythic storytelling for flashy CGI, depth for spectacle, and emotional weight for corporate branding. If you love the soul and spirit of A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, you’ll likely walk away from this trilogy especially Episode IX feeling frustrated and betrayed.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsIt gives enough to be entertaining. But the bad writing is certainly noticeable. Wish George Lucas had more control or at least some over what they did with his work.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsShould have burnt the script.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsCould be worse. Little did we know what hell would follow
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsThe worst Star Wars sequel out of the sequel trilogy
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis feels like a parody. Not a good one like a weird al song or that once a year SNL sketch that gets a slight chuckle because I was sleep deprived. By the way, they fly now?
