This is a fun movie. It won’t be critically acclaimed but it shows a niche sport like Gymnastics in a comedic yet important light. It’s a great movie to sit down and watch with someone. 7/10

I think it was fun to watch because of the quirky antics and the witty jokes.

A witty script, solid direction and a multi-talented cast make for one of the best sports films around.

After a run in with the law, a former gymnast is forced to return to the sport that everyone involved in hates her. This may not be the best movie in the world, but I would consider it a guilty pleasure to watch. There is some good acting from Missy Peregrym, Jeff Bridges and Vanessa Lengies. There are some cool cameos from gymnastics stars. There are also some cool visuals, like the main characters doing cartwheels and flips in prom dresses in a department store. There are also some great character moments, however, there are also some plot conveniences and forced moments that do not work. I would have liked to have had more visuals and commentary about the sport as well. If you are a fan of Missy Peregrym or love gymnastics, then this movie is worth a watch.

After 15 years it almost still holds up Haley has potential but she's gotten in trouble several times She even forfeited the VGA national championship years back because she was tired of being judged despite giving her best So when the judge sentences her Hayley is sent back to the VGA to make something better of herself; it's tough though because she cost all her teammates a big victory and is still getting flack She'll need to win back the trust of her coach Burt and her fellow gymnasts not to mention push herself harder than ever This didn't get the best reception when it came out The script could've used more polishing But it has become a cult hit, it's managed to portray the sport itself correctly, the International Gymnastics Federation had made a significant change to sport’s scoring—it had ended the iconic Perfect 10 score The movie featured the now obsolete scoring system This was my first introduction to Missy Peregrym, her performance really makes the movie One of my favorite soundtracks too Even a gymnast can get tired of the cookie cutter idea of achieving perfection and living up to the ideal body image Being judged by your performance can get very straining so it's refreshing to actually control the results for a change Today it feels very cathartic given the changes to the sport and with the gymnasts taking on the unjust system Glad the movie did something right tackling troubled coaching and toxic body image Plus the best parts about gymnastics: the sheer strength you garner physically and mentally, the support of fellow teammates with a healthy dose of competition, and the freedom to fly

So much angst! This movie has a lot going for it. The cinematography is surprisingly strong at points, the plot is simple, and the characters are interesting. The main character, Haley, is both super likable and frustratingly unlikable at the same time. While there was a depth to Haley and the other girls, we barely scratched the surface of their lives. The story was a little underdeveloped in spots and I would have liked to see the ramifications of their actions in the finale. That being said, I enjoyed watching these girls "stick it". Best Character: Mina Best Scene: Scratching Best Quote: "I'm so pissed at that kid. We were totally gonna throw drinks on you. I feel so upstaged." - Frank Best Piece of Score: "Hittin' the Bars"
