Sting

All in all, a diverting entertainment that, unlike so much contemporary horror, is prepared to have a good time. Fun for all the family. Well, all the family over 16.

It's goofy and fun, [but] it isn't particularly scary... unless you're particularly scared of spiders.

Efficiently contained and creepy, the picture loses a little of its gruesome potency when it ventures into heartfelt family relationship territory.

Really, the last truly effective spider movie was Arachnophobia in 1990. The genre needs reviving. But it does not, alas, start here.

Sting is a thrilling horror film with strong visual effects and engaging performances. It knows its audience well, and plays to them with blood and gore and plenty of laugh out loud moments.

Roache-Turner is no Hitchcock or Spielberg, but he has a sure touch when it comes to knowing what fans of these films want and expect.

If you’re in the proper, preferably mildly buzzed headspace, you won’t be stung by Sting.

Like most films in this genre, what the viewer gets out of Sting will depend on what they put into it. Personally I think this is ‘one of the good ones’.

This is not a super scary film, but it’s a fun one, one that could easily be a kid’s entry in the genre, but also one adults can enjoy easily.

There are some solid old-school B-movie thrills to be had, but <i>Sting</i> is less successful in weaving a family drama into its web.
