Stolen (2012) is a solid, straightforward action thriller that delivers exactly what it promises. Nicolas Cage is in his element here, bringing his usual intensity to a role that keeps the stakes high and the energy flowing. The movie doesn't try to be revolutionary, it leans into familiar tropes like desperate missions and a ticking clock, but it does so in a way that keeps you entertained. The New Orleans backdrop adds a bit of flair, even if it's not fully utilized, and Simon West's direction ensures the pacing rarely drags. While the story feels predictable at times, the action sequences are well-executed, and the performances, especially Cage's, keep the film engaging. The villain might feel a bit over-the-top, but it fits the movie's tone if you're up for something a little campy. Stolen isn't a groundbreaking film, but it's fun, fast-paced, and delivers just enough thrills to be worth the watch. Not Cage's best, but definitely entertaining for fans of his work.

It's a very under-rated movie, it had good action scenes but didn't rely on them and had a fitting ending to a good movie

An entertaining fast paced action rescue film from the under appreciated Nicolas Cage.

    Lazy and insanely predictable.

"Stolen" is so far off the plausibility meter that it's actually rather insulting. Just a few examples (and there are many more): Bank robber Will Montgomery (Nicholas Cage) doesn't know how a GPS works, but he's able to hack into the FBI's computer database. Early in the film, Montgomery tells his partner that they can't steal gold bars from the bank because they're too heavy–they weigh 27 pounds each. Later, he and his diminutive female accomplice steal a bunch of the bars and drag them out in a bag. The aforementioned bank, which surely must have surely upped its security eight years after Montgomery and his crew stole $10 million in cash, is robbed again, with Montgomery basically using a propane torch to break through the vault floor. The film also features inept FBI agents, Josh Lucas playing an insane psychopath, and Cage clawing his way through Mardi Gras parades to rescue his kidnapped daughter. Lots of cars are totaled and lots of people are shot. With some movies, you can turn off your brain and just enjoy the action. I guess you could do that with "Stolen", but the entire thing is so absurd that you can't help but feel like a chump for sitting through it.

While it's story isn't original, this film still manages to be entertaining with Cage doing a solid job, and having good bits of action.

It was a good storyline, but rotten dialog an horrible acting. I wanted to turn it off and watch something else, but I wanted to see the outcome.

Stolen is an entertaining action flick with one clever moment for every four dumb ones. Nicholas Cage is in pursuit of a former partner-in-crime who has taken, er, I mean, "stolen" his daughter. Like a lot of recent action movies, it has a tendency to ruin most its stunts by cutting between several shots, which has the effect of putting the viewer on edge, but never taking their breath away. Stupid movie, but enjoyable.
