Strange Darling

A good PSA on why “trust all women” should be taken with a grain of salt. And because of the stupidity of others, it gives context as to why due process and procedure are in place in a democracy. Strange Darling is a unique thriller in that it manages to twist narratives and gender norms into a nail-biting experience, as displayed in an out of order chapter-based movie. Stunning visuals, indie vibes and an emphasis on color playing a theme in the story. At times I felt like the movie was going to be a let down. After all, it was completely unlike what I had expected. You think you’ve got it all figured out within the first few seconds of the opening scene. But unlike the beginning of the film, the details are not all “in black and white”. This movie WILL piss you off. And in the end, you may find redemption and a cleared conscience. But at the cost of many who you championed to crack the case before anybody else got hurt.

35mm cinematography was a great choice for this film! Good acting, good twists, demented, a bit quirky, a good ride.

Took abit to get going but once it did and the plot really started to unfold it was clever, especially with its unique narrative structure. Its lovely to look at as a movie and i read on another review its got shades of a Tarantino movie and i totally agree. Willa Fitzgerald is a revelation here, she's amazing! One of the best female psychos ive ever seen on screen. and checkmate for her at the end. It didn't hit me as much as it should and it was abit slow in parts but overall a really good and unique twist on this kind of film.

The director is a genius. The way he packages everything together is literally crazy genius. He's shot it in 35mm film as well. You'll have to watch the movie to understand. Hats off to him! This movie made my projector investment a worthy one.

Definitely watch going into it not knowing too much. At times it can be hard to watch and it can go on a. Little long with the static shots. But it is worth your time.

Intellectually structured thriller refines the familiar nonlinear approach to its twisted advantage with sharper sudden turns and gritty convictions in embodying the underlying psyche, even if the violent unsatisfactory and pacing downplays it all without further tightening beyond mere perception which therefore overhypes the value. Great plot twist, amazing performances, beautifully shot, the colors, the light 🤌🏼 If you're into not just the story but the aesthetic of it then you'll love it!
