It’s been 25 years and this still holds up as harmless family entertainment Rob Minkoff, the co-director of the Lion King collaborates with M. Night Shyamalan Based on the book by EB White featuring a cast of Geena Davis, Hugh Laurie, Jonathan Lipniki, and voice actors Michael J. Fox and Nathan Lane The story centers on a family called The Littles whom are kind and loving The parents have 1 son named George but he desperately wants a brother So his parents decide to adopt the most unlikely of orphans…a small mouse named Stuart It’s highly unusual since he is a mouse and very small Even the cat Snowbell feels a rift being he has to treat him as a member of the family The cats he hangs out with also want to make an example of him It takes a while for Stuart to warm up to George but eventually both of them bond Things change though as two mice show up claiming to be his parents so now it all boils down to Stuart choosing to go or stay Michael J. Fox gives a very charming performance as the titular mouse being very expressive with the CGI by SONY Imageworks and the parents are so lovable not to mention a touching score by Alan Silvestri The film touches on some nice themes; some of us even having family members not related feel an empty space, it doesn’t matter if you’re the same species or not you can still belong anywhere, you don’t have to like each other or even look the same when it comes to family, feeling different is hard but it can be a blessing, acceptance is the best way to truly be happy for any lesson I missed both of these films in theaters but they're charming even if they stray from the source material It’s almost like the Mandela effect where watching this feels nothing like the original story audiences thought it would be But the fun special effects, bright colorful sets, costumes, the witty story, funny lines, and sharp performances make this a wonderful holiday viewing for all ages It also avoids being too cloying as many kids films are although most would argue it’s bland, dated, and forgettable Still a good entry that was followed by a much superior sequel

Had it moments, and the cast definitely elevated the movie: however, it just wasn't enough to save the film for me.

At least this is better than the Alvin and the Chipmunks live action movie.
