It’s a little different from the first one, but who’s counting?

When the movie is about two brothers struggling to relate to the outside world and each other it’s heartfelt, it’s fun to watch, and it’s funny as hell. It helps that stars Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal have such a strong chemistry between them.

The plot is a mess, the mystery is mud, and every moment where it’s not just Brax and Christian busting balls is excruciatingly confused.

The new movie leans into comedy in ways that veer toward the cutesy, but the scenes of the brothers together are great, providing glimpses of the co-dependent boys they were before they grew into trauma-stunted men who regularly commit acts of bloodshed.

The Accountant 2 surpasses its original by keying into a lenient and dangerously playful tone.

The truth is that pacing often trumps realism, and “The Accountant 2” just doesn’t build enough momentum.

The Accountant 2 thrives on the brotherly chemistry between Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal. It’s a wildly entertaining sequel that brings a lighter, more playful tone to the franchise and it totally works.

The shared moments between Affleck and Bernthal are the highlight of the storytelling, both effectively stealing the scenes from each other. While there are touching beats within the plot, the story as a whole struggles to understand its identity.

The Accountant 2 features Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal at the top of their game, delivering an explosive and surprisingly hilarious sequel that puts their brotherly bond front and center.

The Accountant 2 ramps up the buddy action comedy dynamic between Affleck and Bernthal to great results! I wish there was a bit more action and the twisty plot doesn't fully come together but the laughs and thrills more than carry the weight.
