The Alto Knights
audience Reviews
, 71% Audience Score- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsNot good. Basically old buys talking and Deniro talking to himself. Do not waste your time.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsBased on the true story of two different mafia bosses that were childhood friends destroyed everything they built due to greed and incompetence.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsEvery time I thought "finally now there is going to be the story" disappointed again. Basically a two hour Dinero monologue.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsSorry, but this must be De Niro's attempt at stroking his ego to climax in his golden years by playing two characters in the same movie and even conversing with himself! What a joke and disappointing new low of casting!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThe Alto Knights is a solid, if unremarkable mafia tale from Barry Levinson with the main draw being Robert De Niro playing dual roles. Random Mexican’s Movie Reviews Full Review https://flicksfan.blogspot.com/2025/06/movie-review-alto-knights.html
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsCasino, but set in the 50's, and DeNiro plays two roles flatly. I liked all the cars, though.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGreat Film about an important part of American Mafia history. DeNiro is top notch as usual. Disregard bad reviews based on political differences with the cast. The Alto Knights is a welcomed addition to the historical based mob story genre. I've often felt Frank Costello had been overlooked in that genre. It's nice to see some of his story told. If you are a fan of The Irishman, Goodfellas and Casino, you will enjoy this film.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThe Alto Knights is flat out boring; a pale imitation of the classic gangster films that came before it, offering nothing new or meaningful. Robert De Niro is fine in dual roles, but he has absolutely no reason to be playing both lead characters. Barry Levinson’s film embraces all the familiar tropes and evokes a bygone era of storytelling, but “The Irishman” did it all far better. No matter how much nostalgia it tries to evoke, it can’t mask how uninspired and derivative it ultimately feels.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsJust okay - which is a low bar for a De Niro movie. Trouble is it is De Niros - plural, movie. He plays both central characters, who, to me pretty much look and sound alike. Why? This is a huge flaw - along with drawn out repetitive dialogue. Surely they could have found a competent different actor for the other role? It seems a dumb choice, one which take an at best average movie down to annoyingly so-so.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsSuccess for a crime drama movie in 2 hours and 3 minutes!!!!!!!!!! Rated R for Violence and Pervasive Language!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Starring Robert De Niro as Frank Costello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
