The Banshees of Inisherin
audience Reviews
, 75% Audience Score- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsAwful. Gross. WHY were people lauding this? HOW did it get made? Movies wherein body parts are cut off and animals die deserve a special warning label.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI liked the movie and would call it a dark comedy. The self-mutilation and mental illness was very odd. The father son relationship was a struggle to watch. This is not for everybody
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOne of my absolute favourite movies of all time. I understand it is t for everyone. You'll either love it or hate it. I think it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen . Even if you hate it you can't deny the quality of the acting. The premise is ridiculous, just enjoy the single scenes.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsUn significato moderno e profondo in un film cupo, spettacolare e magistralmente diretto del grande McDonagh
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsWondering how this movie could be listed and awarded as Best Movie of The Year
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsI've seen this movie before, and I love it. To me, this is a masterpiece, a nearly flawless film where very aspect deserves praise. The cinematography is both beautiful and effective, using visual storytelling techniques like blocking and color to enhance the narrative. One might think dialogue isn’t even necessary, but it’s masterfully written, elevating the film’s rhythm and emotional depth. The script is exceptional, exploring its themes with nuance through fully developed characters, each brought to life by incredible performances from Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon, and Barry Keoghan. The tone is handled with precision, balancing somber drama with moments of humor; classic Martin McDonagh. His unique creative vision ties everything together seamlessly, demonstrating his skill as both a writer and director. Other standout elements include the impeccable production design, which immerses us in the setting and makes us want to be a part of it despite the story’s inherent gloom. Sound and editing are also top-notch, enhancing the emotions of each scene with precision. Some may find the pacing slow, but to me, it’s just right. The music, while not particularly memorable, still serves the narrative well, both the diegetic traditional Irish tunes and the non-diegetic tense undertones. Overall, I have nothing negative to say about this film. It’s one of my all-time favorites, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsFilm about friendship, loneliness, stubbornness of men with a beautiful glimpse of Ireland. Tragic story with comedic interactions. Terrific acting all around.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe Irish civil war is the backdrop. The Irish use of the English language gives a beautiful dimension. All the acting is astoundingly good. The music is simple but haunting. The cinematography is heart breaking. When the film had finished I say for about half an hour just thinking about it. I watched it again straight after and a couple of times since. Mind shaping.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsBored. Didnt connect throughout. Overrated.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe conflict between love and hate snakes through this masterpiece until it haunts the soul for weeks afterwards. Isolated and lonesome on an island, human frailties are exposed and the need of companionship (or not) reveal the depths of cruelty we are capable of. Stupendous scenery emphasise that the elements differ not a jot from ourselves. Oscars should've been thrown at this film.
