The Count of Monte Cristo
audience Reviews
, 94% Audience Score- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI’m usually not a fan of this kind of film, but I was won over! Despite its 3-hour runtime, it really doesn’t feel long. A great experience, with an ending that’s slightly different from the book (less dark), but maybe a bit more satisfying. My only complaint is about the beginning of the film — ten years digging a tunnel, only to not even use it in the end! 😂
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOne of those movies which makes you feel good. I mean hat's off to the movie I mean the movie was around 3 hours and no scene was over cooked ,the pace was excellent ,no drama at all and very gripping movie i didn't move at all.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGreat adaptation of the book - even better than the book, with a marvellous plot full of emotions and splendid cinematic shots
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAn absolute masterpiece—everything from the acting and music to the storyline and visuals is simply breathtaking. There are very few films that reach this level of brilliance.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis is the best new movie i have seen in a long time
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsI’ve always (& will always) loved the 2002 adaptation bc of its emotional power! It’s not really like the book so this adaptation tries to do better. The emotional impact was not there for me, but I loved seeing the book events for after he becomes the count. The relationship with the abbe faria was practically nonexistent. Very little mention of God. & I did miss the daughter & sick grandfather plot line. But was pleasantly surprised by the acting of several characters. The baby scene was heart wrenching, and seeing that plot line play out was wild. Overall a great watch, just not a perfect hit for me.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsA epic 3 hr exciting cinematic tale with an impressive mash of French actors, and yet a disappointing something bigger at its core. A feeling of NQR that left me wanting. Where Dangerous Liaisons got it bang on, The masked Count left me searching for the emotion of the unmasked. And fatal wounds are usually just that. What’s French for ‘A miracle in The End’
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAn absolute masterclass in movie making. Action, adventure, scenery, storyline, soundtrack all combine to take the viewer on a journey with Edmond Dantes in 17th century France. Authentic story telling true to the source material allows the movie to become involved in Dantes plot of revenge upon those that betrayed and incarcerated him. In a time where Hollywood movies are failing at the box office over and over and movie studios are in capable of see what film goers actually want to see this movie stands head and shoulder above the rest as a true movie experience that is worthy of a large box of popcorn and a giant soda.
