Perfectly serviceable dystopian Sci-Fi sequel. Everything is alright about it. Biggest problem is it has lots of cool new areas, factions to see, and some new ideas but it doesn't know how to tie it all into a cohesive narrative. The tree huggers they are hiding with at the start feels like nothing really comes from it besides Miles Teller turning traitor. The logical guys just reiterate what we already know. The romance subplot goes nowhere, the trials just happen and don't build on each other, and there really isnt any new characters in this. Tris becomes stronger I guess and she's acted a bit better but still just is boring in general. Winslet is about the same ehre and same with everyone else. Direction is pretty basic stuff here too and the special effects are alright I guess. Again it's just very generic looking still even with the new faction areas they just don't have anything that seperates them that makes me scream "That's from Divergence". So on top of having the problems from the first this has a bit of a sloppier setup than the first did plot wise. I still would'nt say anything is "broken" per se but it's nothing special. Skip This i'd say unless your a huge fan of the source material maybe. Not much else to say.

Insurgent is a decent follow-up in the Divergent series, keeping up the action and world-building while introducing new conflicts. The plot moves at a solid pace, but it sometimes feels like it's setting up something bigger without fully delivering on it. There's a clear act structure, but some moments lack the depth needed to really hit. Certain character arcs, especially in terms of growth and decision-making, feel a bit underdeveloped, which makes some story beats feel forced rather than earned. The directing keeps things engaging with a mix of intense action and emotional moments, though the execution doesn't always match the ambition. Shailene Woodley carries the film with a strong performance, making Tris a compelling lead even when the script doesn't give her much to work with. The supporting cast is solid, though some characters, particularly Miles Teller's, make choices that don't fully make sense. Visually, the cinematography and VFX are well done, especially in key action sequences where the effects shine. The score and sound design do a great job of elevating the tension and giving the film a more immersive feel. Overall, Insurgent is entertaining with good performances and visuals, but it struggles with depth in its storytelling and character development.

Insurgent showcases decent action sequences and an engaging adventure that continues the series. However, the characters lack energy and become monotonous at times. The film fails to generate enough excitement to anticipate the conclusion of the series, especially considering that it doesn’t fully adapt the book it’s based on. Grading: C+

    Utterly pathetic and boring.

Both narratively and tonally out of tune with the floundering to-be-trilogy's slight amount of substance, The Divergent Series: Insurgent provides a compelling testimony to the fact that an apparent downgrade in directors and impressively listless character development do not lead to successful film.

A clear step down from the first movie. It's become just more generic.

I liked the series from the beginning and the development of the characters and turns in the story. Moments that the protagonists faced seem fresh and new with innocence contrasted by grief, loss, yet fierce pursuit fpr justice against a system that oppressive. The scenery, cinematography, music seemed so futuristic and non-time based to be transported to a different place.

I am not really the target audience of these movies. It was fine. Not great, sometimes not even good. But, not terrible. It kept me interested for 2 hours.

🍀 1.1/10 Im still kerfuffled on that stupid ah ending. A smidge better than the first but that’s not saying anything. The first act of this movie was alright I will admit, but once they get to the city it just goes downhill. bland uninspired and regretting my decisions since i sadly force myself to waste of time on the Truist of tragedies for sure 😞. also, these movies soundtracks suck just saying. Grade D-

Started to watch this series again and it still holds up today. This second installment of the series builds off the first in a great and unique way.
