The Duel
audience Reviews
, 32% Audience Score- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsIf you have insomnia you have found a cure -- this movie will attempt from beginning to end attempt to sedate you; and this with the note that I always love Woody's acting from Cheers to whatever. The acting is good, the murder and atrocities in this film are emotional but its just a bore. I mean is it supposed to be an action move? - no, so what the heck is it? And I even got my Hemsworths (actors) all mixed up (Chris Hemsworth).
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThe Duel is an engrossing and compelling film with outstanding performances, superb photography and a bizarre storyline. Liam Hemsworth is a tough Texas Ranger sent to a remote border town to investigate a series of murders. What he finds is a community ruled by a weird cult leader, disturbingly played by a shaven-headed Woody Harrelson. What follows is a bloody battle of wills between the two men, as the body count grimly rises. This movie is always involving though at times it gets just a little too wordy for its own good. - Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis movie was great, never taking a rotten tomatoes score seriously again. Wth were y'all watching? Woody is a menace in this movie.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsAlice Braga esplendorosa, aquele velho faroeste com fotografia contemporânea... Apaixonante..
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsIt was ok. It was definitely entertaining. I thought there were a few plot holes though and the ending was rushed. Still, it's a watchable and decent Western movie.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsI thought it was a very slow film with some plot holes but Woody was really strong in this. Liam couldn't keep up with Woody at times and they paint Liam as an overly heroic type of character. However, by the end, you respect Helmsworth's sense of nobility. The actress who played Liam's wife was badly miscast. A stronger female lead would have fixed some of the issues with this film. As a western, it's slow but good for a drinking-type night. I wouldn't have felt ripped off if I saw it in a theater.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsIt was ok...needs a better ending
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsDunno why people are hating on this movie, it's dark well acted and the cinematography is great, it's not the same as movies before either
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsA revenge tail with an awful lot of bark, but very little bite. Had the acting felt more authentic with the era, this may have been a solid western. 5/10
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsIt wasn't a great movie, but I feel like the ratings are shockingly low on this one. Yeah, there are a few strange things with the movie that I won't call out. The movie has a constant tension to it, so you sit waiting for the tempers to fly. No you're not going to buy the DVD at Walmart in the $5 bin but I think the movie is a little under rated.
