The movie is an OK coming of age story but the lunch time scene with Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson makes it worth the watch. "I have 32 fleeting minutes of happiness during lunch..."

I'm already 20 years old when I came across this movie. I cried because I'm like her. The feeling of 'you don't belong anywhere' suddenly creeps in as I watch the scenes. It is a perfect visualization of how 98% fractions of teenagers felt during the worst times of their lives. The thing is we tend not to notice immediately the people who really cares for us. But that's how life works, it will make you disappointed at first, so that you will already know how to handle disappointing situations the next time around.

Wonderful coming-of-age movie. Woody Harrelson is brilliant as Nadine's high-achool teacher as well as the rest of the cast. Movie worth watching as rewaching many times

The Edge of Seventeen is a fantastic film. If you’ve ever dealt with depression, especially during adolescence or coming of age, her raw, honest perspective will definitely resonate with you. Her mistakes are ones we’ve all made, and the film captures growing up with striking authenticity. A must watch. Great film!

Though the main character will irritate the heck out of you at times and you want to shout at her to quit being such a narcissistic and angst-ridden lug, after all is said and done, Hailee Steinfeld brings dimensionality to her character and one ends up liking her in spite of everything. Supporting cast is terrific (particularly Woody Harrelson as Mr. Bruner) and the "epiphany" the main character ultimately goes through is believable enough, if a bit hokey. The director, Kelly Freeman Craig, does a great job of balancing humor and gravitas, as well as a collage of other emotions. Overall, this is a richly rewarding and affirming film. I loved it.

Glorifies teen drinking and absentee parenting.

Time waster. The main character is unlikable, and self absorbed. A few laughs, but in the end not worth it. After the first five minutes it starts going downhill fast.
