I do enjoy a good disaster movie, usually going for the so bad it's good variety. I hesitatedly started watching this this not expecting much well picture me surprised. No fancy camera work no awful cgi just a good story that was thoroughly engaging. My final opinion for what it's worth, just like a dollop of cream can improve any cake Benedict Cumberbatch can improve any show or film.

The End We Start From presents the purest form of dystopia. It's not an Orwell or Atwood riff, rather it's "imagine if the current state of Britain was even worse." Overflow camps, social disorder as people kill for supplies, things like that.
The film’s world just feels so real.

Ein extrem schlechter Film. Langweilig, unlogisch, schlechte Schauspieler, sehr schlechte Story. Der Film ist pure Zeitverschwendung.

Who knew the apocalypse could be so dull? Good cast. Act well. But just can't do anything with a poor script. Glacial pace. Low budget. I was bored.

This film had potential through a strong cast and intriguing premise, but is ultimately squandered. As many say the pacing is slow creating a mostly boring experience where you feel you are always just waiting for the next thing to happen. I understand the director was trying to present a more intimate and personal look at the response to a disaster through the eyes of an ordinary mother, but it comes at the expense of the more interesting elements of the story. Every time there is an exciting or shocking development it's either off screen or shown for a few brief seconds. If they'd struck more of a balance here the film would have been far more gripping and enjoyable. Comer is of course excellent. Odd to see some big names show up for very brief scenes.

The really good acting isn't enough to save the wasted potential here. It's not that it's a bad movie; it just doesn't go anywhere or doesn't develop much. It was different enough from most disaster movies tho, so it might keep you hooked. Give it a try if you like depressing dramas.

A different perspective view into the ‘end of the world’ scenarios that’s more of a ‘disaster’ scenario, that of a mother and her newborn child. It doesn’t develop quite as expected and lacks emotional impact, but the situations and solid acting make it hard to look away from. It does seem to lose direction in the back half only to briefly become what was expected for the final 15-20 minutes.

I liked this and don’t really understand the bad reviews. It’s more of an intense drama. I am a mother and couldn’t help imagining if it were me going through this and therefore found some of it quite an emotional watch. Although it’s bleak there’s positivity and hope throughout.
