The Fabulous Four

There’s no sense of comedic causality in “The Fabulous Four,” even though it’s theoretically about how its characters’ actions impact one another. I

Hopefully the experience was lovely for all parties involved, humans and cats alike, and better than what ended up making it onto the screen.

It's aimed directly at me. I'm right in that demographic... [But] it is a sloppy mess. I did not laugh a lot.

The movie is an unsalvageable mess, but the most appalling problem is its premise that women will do anything to be admired.

The movie doesn’t give the fabulous stars quite the vehicle their talents deserve. But we’re happy to see them gathered together, knowing the fab four could run circles around the premise if given half a chance.

The stars do their best to bring warmth and charisma with criminally under-written characters engaging in silly antics.

The Fabulous Four knows exactly the movie it is, and it’s easy to really enjoy yourself. Even so, you want it to be a little more.

Comedy requires boldness, whether to embrace the absurd or to delve into uncomfortable truths. But here, everything is too safe, too complacent. [Full review in Spanish]

The awkward situations of the plot could be solved with simple, direct words, a single line of dialogue, but these characters are incapable of the type of specificity of language most humans develop in early grade school.
