The Fighter

The Fighter is one of those movies where you wish we had Oscar nominated movies like this now in this decade. The 2020s have been a real dry spell of average films that don't hold a candle to films like David O. Russell's trilogy of great character studies of relatable human beings.

I have read several times that in romance the opposite of love is not hate it is indifference. That came to mind today in 2024 when I watched an old talk show clip with guest Amy Adams. That led me to look up the film being discussed because I didn't recognize anything mentioned. My surprise was that I had seen it soon after it came out and I had obviously completely forgotten. Now I had to think back and all that came to me was Christian Bale doing a lot of mumbling and looking confused but not one scene or quote was recalled. I usually remember something in particular from movies as to why I think they were poor. The Fighters didn't warrant even that.

Just superb all around. Incredible performances.

With a fantastic plot and even better acting from everyone involved, this is as good as it gets for a boxing movie. I'd dare to even say the best Wahlberg movie to date. Christian Bale does what he does best and delivers a very compelling drug addicted crap stain. Don't sleep on this movie.

Another one of my all time favorite movies which had a really good cast with a very good story!

Probably the best sport biopic movie, 2 stories being told along side each other, definitely tugging on a few heart strings. My favourite Christian Bale performance, true work of art.

ABSOLUTELY, one of the WORST films EVER!!!! The character played by Christian Bale is putrid and makes me want to throw up!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After a long time Hritik looked same intense in a patriotic movie like lakshya. This movies has all the right things for a patriotic movies. Thanks for making such movies. Excellent way to film our modern brave soldiers saving our country day in day out. All the cast members are above par in acting. Anil Kapoor is same charismatic. Hritik Roshan has shown that he still has years left. A come back movie for him. Worth watching this movies specially with kids. Has right humor that soldiers share. Deepika Padukone is looking great as a Squadron leade role. The filmmakers should always dedicate movies each year for the soldiers.Air Force - Proud of you

Not very inspireing or unique Drama about a Boxer from the lover working clans who tries to get big while his disfunctional family tries it's best to help, but actually is an obstacle. Also, his brothers drugaddiction is overshadowing and complicating familylife, a very moralistic and not very convincing "Don't do Drugs" Massage is delivered here... Qll in All, a very weak Story with quite good actors, but their acting can't help this quite boring movie to shine or spark interest. Everything is very predictable and this kind of "working class boy is making it" - Story allready had it's peak with the first Rocky-movie, which btw. Was 3times more authentic and touching then this quite soulless Hollywood-output.
