There isn't much of a narrative going on here, but Baker succeeds in enveloping the viewer in a very particular place.

Baker’s brave and bracing film is far from a whimsical fable. It is a dramatic thumbnail depiction of a growing section of this nation’s culture that many may not want to admit exists, let alone condone.

Baker's vision for The Florida Project is brilliant in concept and even more vital in execution. The ending to this film is easily some of the best filmmaking of 2017.

Its potent combination of empathy, observation and miraculously natural performances make this a modern classic, with strong echoes of Ken Loach's very best work.

Coupled with Alexis Zabe’s vividly ironic cinematography, and a supporting performance by Willem Dafoe as perhaps a failed parent in his own way, and The Florida Project is nothing short of authentic perfection...
