The Hating Game
audience Reviews
, 75% Audience Score- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsI liked the actors, but their dialogue and relationship progression was undeniably rushed.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsAbout as bland and as easily consumed as a cone of soft-serve ice-cream on a hot day. In other words, perfect. Exactly what a rom com should be. Sonnets are 14 verses. ROM COMS are easily consumed.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThe movie made no sense. It was a romantic comedy with a rushed ending.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsGood leads, but story and dialogue are so utterly predictable and flat. It could have been much better with a little more effort on the writing. Shame really
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsLucy Hale stars and produces next to Austin Stowell directed by Peter Hutchings based on the book by Sally Thorne Lucy and Josh are forced to work next to each other in competing publishing companies Both of them want a big promotion to launch the next big book for consumers There’s plenty of rough tension but there’s a hint of sexual tension too hidden underneath Lucy and Josh play a hating game to outdo one another but slowly start to unravel parts of themselves outside the work place They worry though if the job will make or break their relationship Love and hate don’t have to be similar, when you’re fighting you’re already on the same team, two people driving each other crazy can open up unresolved feelings, people will do anything to get ahead but not everything has to be a competition Hale and Stowell are perfect playing opposing forces, one minute they have their defenses up the next they can slowly be vulnerable showing their reasons for striving for success A good showing of character quirks and workplace rivalry Fluffy enough but also brimming with chemistry as well as sharp dialogue
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsUpbeat. Pacey. Sexy. Insightful. Romantic Comedy at it's best. A rare find. A strand of truth: which woman or man hasn't come near this experience in real time or in fantasy dreamland? What's best about this novel-into-script and tip-top casting is the vulnerability of the lead characters. That's the most telling and helpful revelation in this story: Men and women deep down need love and deserve kindness. Income or not. Power play at work or not. In real life and in hopeful imaginations. Inside out, outside in, both men and women require and hope for the same thing: it's the give and take in harmony and in kindness that matters. These characters end up in a win-win dynamic: in love and in life passionately on all levels due to mutual understanding, and giving and loving support. A good example for all viewers. Love and kindness lives in the core of us. The right partner with the right attitude is a first step in a relationship: to open our hearts and souls to the potential to be our true ourselves. Thank you to the writer, director and crew and lead and support actors. Good job.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsGenuinely the worst movie of all time. Think: corporate, hallmark, ikea. It was like a third graders ai generated movie and script. Terrible plot, lighting, and acting. I’d rather be stabbed for 2 hours straight than have to watch this.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOne of the best romantic comedy I have ever watched and watched more than a couple of times (besides Harry Met Sally of course). Smart, different and funny. Generally not a fan of them, but watched this one by chance and kept me entertained throughout. Austín Stockwell and Lucy Hale chemistry was great. Love the story and the writing that goes with it. Will probably watch it again for Christmas.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsSuch a good romcon, and believable. Most have the same story line again and again, but this wasn't predictable and felt real
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThe Hating Game is one of my all-time favorite books. I have reread it so many times I’ve lost count, so I was very skeptical going into watching the movie. I at least thought the movie would be somewhat OK, but it was much worse than I imagined. They left out/changed some very key points in the book, and I wasn’t buying the chemistry of the main characters. Very disappointed ☹️
