The story is missing something to give it the final push. So close to a John Hughes film.

All the recognition that the film has received is well deserved, the film feels very own, it is very identifiable, we have all been through what Paul went through or what Angus goes through, and the film manages to captivate children and adults by saying that everything It's okay, it's okay sometimes to feel that we can't take it anymore, that we want to throw everything out the window, but it is important that we remember that we are not alone, those who love us and have loved us will always be with us, it is simply an exercise in cinema beautiful.

Pure nostalgic in an heart-breaking story. Beautiful score by Mark Orton, cunning acting and calmingly slow narration rhythm. On the verge of cheesy though in the end.

One of the best movies I've seen in years. Paul's performance was rock solid. It is well written and well performed. I enjoyed the cinematography. Don't miss this movie.

I loved this movie! The acting, the plot, the production, the cinematography, the heart - it was all directly on point! And Paul Giamatti is a treasure! And Da'Vine deserves that Oscar nod - what a star! Definitely worth watching! 5 stars

The Holdovers was an instant classic. From memorable lines to nostalgic feel this movie hands down deserves the Oscar nominations, high critic reviews, and overall buzz it's been receiving. While the format of troubled student and unlikely mentor is nothing new, this movie undoubtedly deserves to be in the conversation with the Good Will Huntings and Dead Poet Societies of the world. Can't wait to see how this one ages.

Loved this film: the 70s-style camera work, the 70s-style sets, the plot, and the character development. It is a major contender for Oscar season, hopefully, the Academy will appreciate it as much as I did. Paul Giamatti. What can we say? You are amazing.

The story and Giamati is a wonderful actor. We'll see anything he makes.
