It's a great documentary. Shows what our military goes through. Reporter risks his life to be able to film and show civilians of what happens out there. I totally recommend watching it, it's a good eye opener.

This was an extremely captivating true story about the war on terror with footage from a father and sun duo of war correspondents. It's amazing how the film includes footage from the American war correspondents as well as the taliban.

Military propaganda. Terrifying to think of a loved one here

The Hornets Nest comes with incredible footage of real-time warzones, and respectfully pays tribute to the courageous soldiers who participate in them. However, at times the documentary feels inauthentic, and dare-I-say-it, a little self-serving towards the reporter who filmed it.

Plenty of action & bravery throughout. Also, the swearing was funny...

Incredible documentary about true American heroes

Really an outstanding look at what our military has to endure in its mission in Afghanistan. I will say that Mr. Boettcher doesn't miss an opportunity to show himself. More voice over and less "look at me" would have been good. But again it is certainly worth the watch.

Technically this is not a good movie. The video is surprisingly poor quality, with some annoying post-production glitch effects added, and stock dramatic background music. But that is all easily forgiven when you consider the danger these journalists subjected themselves to. It is important to understand a little of what goes on in the battlefield, and the roll call at the end is emotively done. Some of the best scenes and still photos are shown during the closing credits, proving that they are in fact skilled photographers. Well worth checking out.

Undoubtedly an interesting look at the inside lines of combat. It's unfortunate that the peak moments of the film were merely talked about and not shown. The obvious sound effects of gunfire and bullets flying by ultimately cheapened the experience and gave the viewer hope of a climax that just didn't happen.

This film appears to be a joint collaboration with military Information Operations. The broad point the film attempts to make is "US military good guys, Taliban bad". Massive military power inserted into a wretched Afghan village (certainly doesn't look like Berlin circa 1945). The suicide bombing looks like a cut and paste edit. Six children casualties, but despite the quick image of an utterly destroyed Humvee, no mention of US casualties. Odd. Well that was in 2014 and here we are in 2019 and the military situation continues to deteriorate (from our perspective) despite the upbeat ending of the film. Sad
