The House on Sorority Row
audience Reviews
, 61% Audience Score- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsAnother terrible eighties slasher movie with unimpressive gore, dreadful story and simply a complete waste of time. The only possible saving grace was that they did put a tiny amount of effort making this a tiny bit different with the slightest variation to the normal slasher formula. There was the usual flash of a topless woman and some eye-poking and that was about as good as it got. You know, this is not a good film and pale into insignificance compared to Friday the 13th (1980).
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsAs far as 80s slashers films, this one isn't bad. That's a compliment because alot of them are trash. The doctor gave Katherine a mild sedative but she's running through the house and can hold a gun...OMG!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsA decent horror film with a very frustrating non-ending. The distributor didn't like the ending that was filmed, so it was removed and the movie was released with no ending. Sadly, this footage is gone forever.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsThis film absolutely fails to capture what made slasher films in this era so great. Honestly, it's just a mess. A convoluted film that fails at every turn. The characters are poor, the plot is obvious and badly written and some of the acting is mediocre at an absolute push. I don't know if it's the editing but the house party was still going when I didn't think it was, and apparently ended off screen… or something? That's really indicative of the film. I don't think the concept itself is that bad, but it's horrendously executed. As much as I enjoy a good slasher, I don't think I'll be watching this one again.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsRIFFTRAX This movie was unironically scary. There was even some decent plot work in the latter half of the movie. Yeah, it was shlocky and campy, but the premise of being hunted by an undead old lady with a cane is going to cut into my sleep. Best Riffs: "We can cosplay The Seven Samurai." "And we need you to pole dance." "Get in Nick Nolte's pool." "Standard post-concussion lingerie." "Am I 80s Kristen Stewart?"
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsNot the goriest of slashers but still good.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThe House on Sorority Row offers nothing new to the genre and its unsatisfactory conclusion raises the question was watching this 80's slasher worth it to begin with.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsit was a good movie, i enjoyed it horror fans should try it out.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThe house on sorority row is a fun teen slasher but writing and directing of this movie felt like who seen Halloween and Friday the 13th and try to references and the audio sounds terrible.
