The Last Rodeo
audience Reviews
, 95% Audience Score- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars“The Last Rodeo” is a movie that explores a narrative genre with much unrealized potential in story telling that follows a desperate grandfather entering a dangerous competition to raise the funds for his grandson’s brain tumor removal surgery. However, while this premise sells easily to audiences and the intense scenes stick their landings smoothly, the important moments that are supposed to pitch a grand slam to the rest of the plot are far too dull to fully invest the audience in the stakes of this conflict. Angel Studios clearly has the best intentions behind their films, but soon needs to start taking bigger risks in future projects.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsFor the MAGA crowd or anyone that confuses the ethos of America in the 1950''s with some sort of Utopia. Faith based oozing out all over to produce a sanitized version of real life struggles, relentlessly complimentary to the main character, McDonough provides an ego driven performance without the earnest belief of a Randolph Scott and a million miles from Ben Johnson or the real thing. Another pedestrian, going through the motions effort by Jon Avnet who seems to have lost his way and ended up in the bleachers with a corn dog. Sad .
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI usually don’t enjoy movies that are… predictable. But I left this movie feeling very satisfied and upbeat. The performances by the two leading characters were very solid, very believable. They both became their characters for me. Very well shot and the settings were great. 👍
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsGood movies to me are judged by the ability for them to garner an emotional response, and if they are predictable. This movie had great acting, besides Billy Hamilton, who couldnt act at all. The only reason for 4.5 instead of 5, is because the ending felt rushed. Great story, great acting (for the most part), thought provoking, and heartwarming.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsSeemed like a TV movie....was that religious?
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsI watched for one hour and had to turn it off. It was predictable and boring.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsSo cheezy. Terrible writing. Why were they changing an oil filter in the fields on a road trip? Cookie cutter movie . I watched because of the fake high rating.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsI get it. Its a low budget film, but the acting is laughable. Couldnt get half way through it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsSuperb acting and thought provoking message about making amends and experiencing true love.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThough, sporting a low-budget, a powerful movie about versatility and persistence. Very powerful and semi-faith based.
