The Last Unicorn
audience Reviews
, 86% Audience Score- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsAfter The Hobbit, Rankin and Bass teamed up with Topcraft once again to deliver a fantasy book adaptation with wildly dreamy imagery, but lifeless animation (though the talking skeleton is actually impressive), and tons more terrible dialogue.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe last unicorn was so beautifully done with so many adult themes mixed in that you don't understand until you are older.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOne of my favorite childhood movies that has forever stuck with me. The story, the characters, the wonderful way they move and the music. There just isn’t another animated movie like it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsA beautiful and iconic movie
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIconic. Original. Beautiful. The music, voice acting, story, script all excellent! Something for everyone. It's funny, gripping, sad, thought provoking, and a wonderful true fairy tale with some scary monsters. Love it! A classic.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsMy grandparents had this movie on DVD when i was little. While adding to my DVD catalogue i took it and watched it for the first time in years. When i say this movie brought me to tears, I'm being dead serious. The animation is stunning, the character designs are beautiful, the casting choices fit each character perfectly, and the music performed by America is the icing on the cake. The metaphor's laced throughout The Last Unicorn are so well thought out, and that ending is enough to make a grown man cry. Couldn't recommend enough, but one only half a five star because of the tree scene alone; it was unnecessary and was just plain weird.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI absolutely love this film. I think I was 6 the first time I saw it, And it was great. It's a traditional Christmas classic in my country ( every year at Christmas this film is seen on free TV) and every year I watch it. Some of the heavier themes of the movie have I first understood as an teenager. It's all in all a sad movie with an open ending. No happy ending, no wedding but a little sadness and magic.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsI saw this when it was released in 1982, and gave it another shot years later. Though I really liked the visuals in the final act, most of the movie feels sad and slowly plods along. The worst aspect is that the story pauses everytime one of the forgettable and unengaging songs plays. I don't recommend this; if you do watch it, skip through the songs.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsNOT Rated G, i would say i dont know why it rated so but it the art style the see it cute looking and BOOM has to be a kids movie, man the 1st 10 min i felt like i was tripping, 12 mins and 50 sec when i human calls her a mare shes like mare, mare?, I A WHORE? then horse noises, WHO THE FUCK THINKS WHORE ITS A KIDS MOVIE? aint no way AIN'T NO WAY THIS RATED G it not like I'm miss hearing it either cause she then follows up with "Is that what you take me for" yes SHE SAID WHORE. Change my mind ye no im watching more in for years going up parents hated here what hell is that for no this is a 1982 movie DURING THE SATANIC PANIC no fucking way Hell would be allowed in a kids movie, the harpy the witch has has Old lady Human boobs hanging, ye i m watching it as i right dude just made a tree come alive and that has massive tits and his head in between them, NO WAY ITS RATED G, or should i talk about the naked lady? other wise good movie but is got a lot the could be cut out its a bit to long for no real reason would recommend but its closer to PG-13 if anything.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThere is nothing like it. Saw it when I was little and somehow I still watch it every now and then. Love the pre Disney visuals, the script and the key elements it has regarding magic and fantasy. One of my all time favorites.
