The Lost Girls
audience Reviews
, 18% Audience Score- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsWow this film is terrible. The accents are terrible, there are plot holes big enough to fly a plane through, and the special effects are particularly bad. The only reason I gave it an entire star instead of half a star is because very occasionally there would be a glimmer, a line here, a line there, that wasn't terribly acted to in their honor I give it a single star. Livia De Paolis was particularly bad. Any time the script called for emotion so performed said emotion like a robot who had been told a close approximation of what said emotion should look like and then performed a pantomime while crawling through mud. Truly terrible. I paid $4 for the displeasure of watching this film and I regret it so much. Terrible, terrible, film.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsThis may actually be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's unfortunate because the concept is actually really good, but the acting is absolutely horrid, especially from the main character. I would love to see this movie re-done with the same concept, but completely different director and cast.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI know that the reviews were low sadly because I think that people did not understand the premise of the story. It's a beautiful story of trauma loss and then forgiveness. Women that have been through struggles in their lives with their mothers will totally understand this. It's a beautiful story of generational trauma and how you can stop generational trauma yet you can still be free and loving in the world. There was weird stuff said about pedophilia there is nothing about that. Peter Pan is a fantasy thar all girls have of loving someone for only a moment. We've all had that momentous love with someone who is not right for us in the long run. That's what that movie teaches that choices are made and that love conquers all with maternal cycles being broken. It's perfect for anyone who loves Peter Pan Neverland or has ever seen Once Upon a Time it's just a continuation of the story of the Wendy's and it was done amazingly well. Bravo! The woman and strong actresses in this movie would not have taken this part if they thought it would not make meaning to all women ❤️💖💗💕
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis is the worst movie I've seen. The acting is comically bad. I was reminded of The Room while I was watching this. Don't waste your time!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsIt had an intriguing start and a couple of mildly engaging plot points that unfortunately came to no narrative or thematic fruition. The movie took a nosedive for me the moment Livia De Paolis' character appeared. I went online to see how come the actress was so miscast just to find out she was the director herself. For one thing, she doesn't remotely look like younger versions and older relatives of her character, secondly, she acts so poorly that the annoying character traits are not softened by any hint of warmth or charisma, but rather, are aggravated even more. It's a pity the movie turned out to be a waste of many good, well-cast actors and a primising premise...
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsBad movie, bad cgi, livia de paolis' bad acting, overall this movie is bad.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI have never seen a movie so bad I sought it out online to review it. The story makes no sense and is not cohesive at all. I know it's based on a novel, but unlike other movies from books I will not be seeking it out to read. Why the director chose to star in it herself, also- makes NO sense. For girls supposedly on the "brink of womanhood, (because I suppose that's one the points the movie is trying to get across?) the actresses who played the "13-year old" teens looked and spoke WAY older than they were supposed to be. That could just be bad writing, as the dialogue was extremely stilted and felt like something that maybe looked good on paper but not in practice. It may be since the writer/director/star is Italian, and English as a second language can be hard to write so it sounds natural. But she looks older than Joely Richardson who is supposed to be her mother, and her accent pulled me out of any chance of immersion. I kept watching hoping it would eventually make sense or get better, and unfortunately that never happened. It was a waste of some great acting talent (Richardson, Redgrave, Glen, Carey) and an absolute waste of my time.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI wanted it to be over and it seemed it would never never be over!!
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThe Lost Girls enchanting book was blemished by Livia De Paolis' attempt to be all things: Director, Producer, Writer, and Actor of the film. But, De Paolis' decision to cast herself as the Lead Character in the film was unfortunate. The timeless adage about "not being your own lawyer" applied here. It was distracting when Livia appeared as adult Wendy. She didn't have similar facial structure as teenage Wendy; or acting skills equal to the impressive performances by Vanessa Redgrave, Joely Richardson, Iain Glen, and others (which were delightful).
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsSo the review pirates, as expected, didn't get the message of the movie. Pirates have hardened their hearts, so they are blinded by their polarized expectations. But I got the message and I felt it in my soul. Let me decode this movie for you pirates. The story is about mental health issues being hereditarily passed down from one generation to the next. And how each generation, at a young age, is faced with the same knocking at the window. Pan represents romanticizing the suicide path and the deep connection to his promises of freedom. The water in the film may represent the contemplation of suicide by drowning. Hook represents the drug and alcoholism path. Neverland represents never having to feel the vexing pain again. The message of this movie was creatively expressed through metaphors and a familiar children's story. Livia De Paolis was brilliant, raw, authentic, courageous, and at least with me, understood. Thank you for being brave enough to tell this story.
