Brie Larson leads a super-trio that works hard to blast some fun into this confusing adventure.

While the titular Marvels make for an endearing, women-centric found family, the film’s hyperawareness of its role in a larger universe is its downfall.

It’s silly and makes little sense, but it’s such a fun time at the movies. And isn’t that why we go to see movies in the first place?

DaCosta made room for The Marvels to be bright and playful, filled with characters that are impossible not to love.

You get the sense that everyone involved is going through the motions.

A cosmic blast of fresh air and a feel-good time that never takes itself too seriously. It's full of laughter, exciting fight sequences, and a powerhouse trio that each get their moment to shine. These characters were made to be seen on the big screen.

While the plot might give you the feeling of any other superhero movie, what makes it different is the treatment and the sheer dynamics between the three lead characters.

Although there’s a terrific body-swapping fight scene early on, the film generally favours laughs over combat.

This narrative is pure comic book ridiculousness done correctly. The Marvels has its fair share of action and dramatic moments, but more than anything else this film strives to entertain the viewer.
