The Miseducation of Cameron Post
audience Reviews
, 77% Audience Score- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsApproaches the subject of “treating homosexuality “ with sincerity, compassion and staying away from any cheap shots. The different actors embody their characters convincingly. Unfortunately, child abuse in similar centers continues to happen.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsCameron Post does a great job pulling out these characters humanity, in a convincing fashion. It's very well cast with a mix of fresh faces and under-utilized, good actors. It's not the most feel-good movie, but it is very well done and does keep you invested throughout. It's definitely intriguing to the point that if you want to feel a sense of meaning while checking off a top-tier indie, then you should check out Cameron Post.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI absolutely hated this movie, and that's why it's so brilliant. It perfectly conveys the horror that is emotional abuse, and is not for the feint of heart. It is designed to make you hate it. You will despise the emotions you feel when you watch this movie, but those emotions are so, so important to be shown because conversion camps are a truly horrible thing and they hurt teens everywhere.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThese kids are so scared, that no real conversations are established. You, like, watch and experience their pain but have nothing at your disposal to resist. It made me feel defeated.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsBut I’m a Cheerleader but without Straight RuPaul ™️
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsChloe Grace-Moretz plays Cameron Post, a young teenager who discovers she's a lesbian Her prom night is ruined after getting caught and her family sends her to conversion therapy Cameron befriends other so-called sinners feeling like they're being stepped on because of their lifestyle She's also becomes tired of being disgusted by herself The characters have of course plenty of shame and internalized loathing Moretz gives a very defining performance Director Desiree Akhavan has plenty of stuff to say about sexual repression, self-affirmation, and a microcosm of gay conversion the most important love is self-love, being true to yourself, you don't have to beg for the affection by others
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsCompelling throughout -- great film
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsBig fan of Chloe Grace Moretz. I'm yet to see her in anything where I haven't liked her. This is a serious tone shift from a lot of the other movies I've seen her in and she's great as usual. The Miseducation of Cameron Post is an intentionally infuriating film about a gay conversion boarding home for teenagers. While not necessarily surprising, it is absolutely wild that this trash is still legal anywhere in the US. The narrative doesn't always sustain itself all that well, but there are a lot of scenes that are immensely powerful.
