Full of lovable characters (aside from a certain two, I’ll leave you to guess), some great humour and excellent character development. I’m blown away at how it juggled “family bonding road trip” and “end of humanity”.

Funny and light - it's something fresh compared to the films that are released on air or in theaters today.

I've rewatched some of the best animated film of 2021 - The Mitchells vs. The Machines. But in essence, it's a delightful and entertaining film that offers a blend of humour, heart and visual spectacle, praising the animation style which is masterfully combines traditional 3D computer with 2D hand-drawn elements, boasting a visually dynamic and innovative creates a unique and energetic aesthetic. At its core, the story is about a dynamic family that is quirky and dysfunctional, bridging generational gaps and finding common ground.

My God, did I love this movie! This was one of the best recent animated comic movie I've seen. It had everything a good story needs: good character arcs, good dynamics, a good plot and obviously a good sense of humor. 1. The character arcs are really emotional and relatable and the studio that brought us this pearl of a film needs an Oscar, almost as much as Emilia Perez. Katie, the main character, is the usual kind of a main character; the "I'm different from everybody else" kind of girl. But she changes through the story and her characterization doesn't feel forced in any way. Even the other characters have interesting stories throughout the movie, just not as much as Katie. Maybe the father arrives ALMOST at the same level as Katie's arc. 2. The dynamics were just so fun to watch, it's like watching a real family in a movie. The messiness, the brother and sister bonding, the overprotective mother (and dad), the jelousy the Mitchells have since the start for their neighboors, it's all so real and relatable. I particulary liked the Aaron-Katie dynamic but even the others...chef's kiss!! 3. The plot ISN'T predictable at all and it's almost something that surprised me because of the predictability of recent movies, but it's simple and "silly". I'm saying silly because the major plot is centered around a scene you don't even think it's important, for me, and then like 10 minutes later you get this big villain and you think "is this real or is this going somewhere else?" and I love the doubt vibe you get when you watch a movie. 4. The humor was just something else. It was funny, not forced, clever ecc. It actually made me laugh out loud in some parts. Even when they try to make the humor forced (Katie's movies) they manage to make it not cringe. They joke on a lot of current stuff: the "boomer mentality", the tech created by big companies and how it destroys people and others and they make it so incredibly funny I don't even know how to describe it. You'll just have to watch it for yourself. 9 and a half out of 10!!!!!
