The Other Guys

The funniest movie of the year so far.

Juxtaposes the excesses of our unregulated financial sector with the excesses of the buddy cop movie.

This is the fourth feature that Will Ferrell and writer-director Adam McKay have collaborated on, and once again they deliver laugh-out-loud if ultimately disposable comedy with mixed messages about arrested male development.

The Other Guys has surprisingly energetic action sequences, shoot'em-ups and car chases, and even a bit of a whodunit plot...

A comedy-action movie that begins far more engagingly than it ends.

You’ll never look at cop procedurals the same way again, or Jersey Boys, for that matter.

At least McKay makes the film visually interesting, with one or two scenes of action that are worthy of mention, and some flair behind the camera during a frozen bar scene.

It's a strangely sobering end to a seriously funny film, but also a hint at what McKay would tackle later in the decade with the Oscar-winning The Big Short.

The movie isn't bad per se, but unfocused would be the corresponding adjective. [Full review in Spanish]
