The Paper Tigers
audience Reviews
, 93% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsFunny and well made story with incredible action scenes where the fights truly feel natural. All actors had an incredible performance, both in the realistical fights and on the comedical lines. Overall this movie was well made, catching the 'old feel' when showing the characters in the past, and making the story coherent, realistic and funny. A must watch for action and comedy movies enjoyers.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsHow how how can this movie possibly be rated so highly? It’s bad. Enjoyable enough for casual low-expectations viewing, I guess, but, seriously, no one who has ever seen a halfway decent movie would consider this movie better than 40% fresh. It’s not worth the energy of explaining why, just trust me. Sure, it had some redeeming elements (like Carter), but anyone who says this movie deserves 98% fresh is interrupting that statement with hits from their very large crack pipe or saying it before spluttering into raucous fit of laughter. There, now you have my feelings about it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI personally liked it. There's nothing particularly deep or profound about the movie, nor will you get a martial arts masterpiece, but it was a fun couple of hours nonetheless
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThoroughly entertaining action comedy. The characters are believeable and the plot holds my interest. Even a happy ending!
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsDon't get suckered in like I was. I understand that it's a low budget movie. However, the story structure is a mess with plot details not making sense and leading nowhere.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsWhen their sifu is murdered, his former students, now middle aged, endeavor to avenge him. A fun throwback to a classic formula with three solid leads and a hilarious rival. I loved how one character mentioned something and it came into play later. And an obvious but funny easter egg with Yuji Okumoto, who co-produced.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 stars40/100 - I love Kung Fu movies and comedies, unfortunately not this one. Really bad, writing is all over the place. Fails to blend new and old themes. Hard to watch.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsNot quite as funny as I hoped it still managed to have some great ideas and some surprisingly well choreographed fight scenes.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsNot bad but not great
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsAn unknown but unexpectedly great film. It's easy to tell where the budget had to be cut on special effects and actors, but the story, the lessons, and the ambiance the cast brings to the table is all worth the watch.
