I really enjoyed this telling of a true story. Steve Cougan was an excellent choice to lead this amazing cast.

A touching movie about life and how the most unusual thing can bring you back from a bad place.

I thought that this was a very good film and cannot understand the negative reviews about it being oversentimental. Coogan is excellent in the part of a well travelled, jaded teacher with a sad secret. The story moves at a good pace and the history of the troubles in Argentina gives the film more depth and interest. There are also some genuinely laugh out loud funny moments too. I thoroughly recommend it.

Not many films that rely on quality acting and story. I really enjoyed it

Lovely film full of wit and great warmth. Steve Coogan's best film , a lot better than Philomena. A reminder of how lucky we have been in Britain to have had freedom .

Hi. What's the truth of this? Mr. Tom Michel did adopt a penguin. What happens? Fish out of water, British man moves to Argentina to teach. Is accepted, the transplant takes and... it's quite cute, no. What do I think? Mum was content. I felt, you could actually have done a lot of this, as a silent film- the mime, penguin follows owner; odd title card to explain what people are specifically bothered by, in the politics. It wouldn't have sold, of course. I suppose I thought it was a bit lazy, at its worst. Take care.

I absolutely loved The Penguin Lessons. It’s a heartwarming, wholesome story that gently draws you in while delivering a powerful—yet never preachy—message. The film strikes a beautiful balance between charm and substance, offering feel-good moments without losing depth. It’s the kind of story that stays with you, not because it shouts, but because it speaks to something honest and human. A quiet gem with a big heart.
