Based on a novel from 1883, the concept and historical time period were very interesting. Cinematography was also often gorgeous in the Carpathian Mountains. Production values, not so much, with sometimes wooden dialogue and some ill-lit scenes, here it gets maybe a B- or C+ versus A- for the other. The physics regarding the flood needed more exploration.

Easy to watch historical adventure movie , enough to keep you watching till the end and likeable characters and great villains.

This movie is nowhere near as terrible as the rating score would have you believe. Some elements of poor writing (clunky contrivances, details here and there that don't make a lot of sense) let the film down somewhat, but there's enough emotional pull to make this a watchable film. The main protagonist and his love interest are relatively likable characters, while Tserenbold Tsegmid puts in a solid performance as the ruthless Mongol Khan bringing destruction to their village in the Carpathian mountains. It's fair to say that this movie is flawed and fails to live up to its fullest potential, but it's far from the dire snooze-fest some critics have painted it as.

Nonostante un budget chiaramente limitato per il genere, il film si lascia guardare grazie ad una buona sostanza della trama che non si limita allo scontro tra due fazioni e grazie alla buona costruzione e varietà dei personaggi; purtroppo alcuni dei quali non sfruttati abbastanza. Anche il villain non viene elaborato a sufficienza, dato l'interesse che si crea nei suoi confronti. Probabilmente la battaglia finale è la parte nel complesso meno riuscita; per quanto originale si basa su una serie di improbabili eventi.

Great movie if you are looking for some slaves vs mongols theme movie. Some cringe, but it's a movie made with 5 millions $. Overall, a decent movie, but far from a classic.
