I think it was very enjoyable way to film a documentary about a strange and unique situation. It's been a long time since I've seen it. But it stuck with me if I'm honest. I really the character development and the growth of the slow development Insanity of each twin was specific to each twins personality. One of them wouldn't go anywhere with out her sister, the other one got jealous as here sister seemed to get a lot more success then her. So they ened up preforming acts of arson. They are both selective mute which was a very interesting way to tell a story.

A very weird biopic about the twin sisters who remained silent to the outside world while creating their own imaginary worlds in writing. Letitia Wright and Tamara Lawrance give brilliant performances capturing their unique mannerisms as well as the inward and outward bursts of emotions. But while the story itself is interesting, the choice of an almost surreal narrative with interludes of stop motion animations of the stories by the sisters gives a fitting vibe of the sisters to the whole movie it still feels incomplete. The beginning itself is very sudden in terms of having no context of what's happening and yet not really putting the audience in the middle of the events. It felt more like they had all the ideas right but the execution didn't reach where it should have. This should have been a much longer movie but it doesn't seem there's anything cut down because the film just doesn't feel like it has much more to say even though the story feels incomplete at every point. If they wanted to reflect the way the sisters actually communicated with the world by not giving all the information, this should have been much more surreal than this. Otherwise, it should have been a more straighter biopic where there's a little bit more space for the other characters. Here it just feels like the makers didn't really know what to do with the material and made a half baked attempt at it.

    Interesting story, but weird

Surprisingly excellent! I almost didn't watch it, because the trailer seemed made it seem like such a serious, gray film. But actually it's quite colorful and artistic!! Though the plot is pretty sad, there are so many beautiful scenes that bring light topi to the room. At times, the camera lingers on the sisters staring blankly a bit too often, but the actresses do an amazing job at giving the characters depth and emotion. I love when films incorporate art like this, and this one does so seemlessly.

Way more heavy and a bit bleak Kinda long too But both Letitia Wright and Tamara Lawrance give exceptional performances as sisters June and Jennifer Gibbons thanks to director Agnieszka Smoczyńska For both these black Britains they kept to themselves growing up not socializing with kids their own age and were declared mentally unsound But the both of them had a knack for writing short stories and poems During the ‘80s one of them published but of course they had a hard time getting used to one being more successful than the other, one would have a voice despite not talking while the other felt left behind For a time they were institutionalized but learned to grow closer and not be so closed off Sadly Jennifer passed away in her 30s and the cause of death was never confirmed June today lives a private life in the United Kingdom True there's a reluctance to engage with some of the harsher realities of their story But the movie matches the foggy grimy period of the ‘80s, there's wonderful songs from the real sisters themselves sprinkled throughout, and it attempts to get as personal as it can Its compelling story is one that touches on artistic impulses, racial division, female identity, idiopathic psychology, the inadequacies of our educational and psychiatric institutions, and so much more These are two women that refuse to break from the silent world lest they become strangers

This is a sad and tragic store for the Twins but one that should be told and understood. They seem to have struggled with some developmental issues at a young age, specifically with their speech. However it seems the trigger for their troubles and illness was exacerbated by their environment. They were different mentally and ethnically growing up in an all white community in Wales. They were alienated and bullied severely in childhood and took to extreme cooping mechanisms. It highlights some very important issues including developmental disabilities, bullying, unfair sentencing attributed to their race and the lack of understanding by healthcare professionals on mental healthcare at the time. I thought the performance by the twins was excellent. It must've been very difficult for them to become these characters and tell this story. It's not a feel good documentary, but it's very thought provoking and insightful in my opinion.

This film is a work of art for viewers possessing psychological, emotional, and intellectual depth. It captures some of the best storytelling I've seen in a long time. Again, it is not for the shallow type of movie goer that is clueless. It's a movie about 2 complex inseparable twin sisters you didn't know you needed to see, especially since its based on a true story. "Two who were One." The bond they shared was deep and dysfunctional by society's standards, but you be the judge since the connection they had was not like anything I've seen before. Except, the soul tie trap they were bound by could have been a biological glitch since they were in the womb together. I don't know enough about them to say whether they shared the same sack, but I have heard of physiological connections and deep spiritual and mental soul ties between twins - almost as if they are sharing the same body, instincts and impulses while in separate bodies. The cinematography is excellent and the cast is superb. Without any spoilers I highly recommend this richly dark, humorous, relatable, heartbreaking film that will draw you in from the very first moment; and if you have the kind of mind I describe above, it won't let you go until the end. 10 stars.
